Jujutsu Kaisen’s Mahoraga: The Hilarious Real-Life Treehopper

Mahoraga, known for his epic battle against the King of Curses in the Shibuya arc, is highly regarded as one of the most powerful shikigami in Jujutsu Kaisen and has a dedicated fanbase.

The battle was an extraordinary encounter, similar to others in the series, as it featured the King of Curses using every tactic to surpass the cursed technique of the shikigami. In the end, Sukuna was able to figure out the strategy and easily defeat the shikigami.

Interestingly, it is possible that this shikigami drew inspiration from an unlikely source. A user, known as X, shared an image of an insect species that bears a striking resemblance to the shikigami’s body structure, particularly the rotating eight-handled wheel above it.

Fans react to the insect that supposedly resembles Mahoraga from Jujutsu Kaisen

The Brazilian treehopper is a well-known plant-eating insect due to its unique body shape. Researchers have observed globular appendages protruding from its neck area, although they are unsure of their precise function. However, they theorize that these appendages may serve as a defense mechanism against potential predators.

These limbs have a striking similarity to the Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, one of the shikigami of the Ten Shadow Technique. The cursed technique is primarily attributed to the eight-handled wheel that rotates above the shikigami’s head.

Upon observing a novel cursed technique, the eight-handled wheel of the shikigami begins to rotate. Each rotation results in the shikigami mastering the cursed technique. Additionally, the shikigami’s physical appearance takes on a resemblance to a strange insect, with wings emerging from its face.

Despite the fact that this insect’s appearance closely resembled that of a shikigami, fans still admitted to being frightened by its creepy spider-like appearance. In fact, some fans went so far as to study the insect extensively and draw comparisons between the function of its appendages and the adaptability of a shikigami.

Finally, fans couldn’t contain their admiration for Gege Akutami’s ability to create such a formidable character from a seemingly insignificant insect, especially since this insect serves as the source of inspiration for the shikigami.

“If megumi summoned something like this I’d just run away that’s terrifying”a fan said

“Was just thinking the thing on its head was a fungus, but it’s actually a part of its body… which might have been used to mimic fungus, so I was technically right?”another fan said

“Jujutsu Kaisen in real life. Ahhh! We are cooked by Gege now.”another one said

The inspiration for the shikigami stems from a group of Buddhist deities, although the design of this creature may have been influenced by the insect due to their striking similarities.
