Jujutsu Kaisen’s Merger and Yuji’s Role in Stopping It

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Merger and Yuji’s Role in Stopping It

Despite only having three manga chapters left, fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are still actively creating theories before its ending. One recent theory on Reddit revolves around the character Hiromi Higuruma.

Previously, the emerging sorcerer was a typical lawyer who yearned for fairness. However, this concept implies that he was always the Merger and had been swayed by Yuji Itadori into believing that there were still individuals worth safeguarding.

Despite having some significant plotholes and being a far-fetched theory, there is no denying that the Jujutsu Kaisen theories are intriguing and have potential implications. However, upon further analysis and considering the writing style of author Gege Akutami, it becomes increasingly unlikely that this theory holds true.

This article includes spoilers for the series.

New theory suggests that Hiromi Higuruma was the Merger all along.

According to a popular theory on Reddit, it is believed that Higuruma was actually the Merger and responsible for overseeing the Binding Vows throughout the story.

Despite losing faith in the Jujutsu world, his encounter with Yuji Itadori reminded him that there were still people worth protecting and that humanity was not a lost cause. As a result, he made the decision to undo the Merger before it could even begin.

Without a doubt, this theory is highly implausible, as the Merger was still in the process of taking shape during the Culling Games arc when Higuruma was initially introduced. Additionally, the character possesses a well-developed backstory, including his experiences as a lawyer and his disillusionment with the system, further diminishing the likelihood of this theory.

In addition, it was demonstrated that Kenjaku maintained control of the Merger until his death by Yuta Okkotsu. It was then transferred to Ryomen Sukuna in the final moments of Kenjaku’s life. However, since Higuruma had already been killed by the King of Curses, this sequence of events does not align with the theory.

Despite having a minor role in Jujutsu Kaisen, Higuruma managed to leave a lasting impact on both the audience and the main character, Yuji Itadori.

His debut was in the Culling Games arc where he, like many other normal civilians, awakened his Jujutsu powers with the help of Kenjaku. What made him stand out was that he learned his Domain Expansion before mastering the basics.

In addition, many individuals were able to relate to Higuruma’s disillusionment with the legal system and his determination to seek justice on his own terms. This is evident in his confrontation with Yuji and later in their battle against Ryomen Sukuna, where Higuruma sacrifices himself for the sake of the remaining sorcerers’ chance against the powerful King of Curses.

Final Thoughts

This proposed theory that Hiromi Higuruma is the Merger in Jujutsu Kaisen is highly implausible, as previously mentioned, and lacks substantial evidence. Additionally, such a major plot twist would not likely be overlooked or left unaddressed by Gege Akutami, adding another flaw to this concept.
