In chapter 266 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the current state of Megumi was revealed, including his final interaction with Yuji. The chapter primarily revolved around Yuji’s defeat of Sukuna and Megumi’s eventual return, where he utilized his Ten Shadows technique to impede Sukuna’s actions.
Although the last panel showed that one of Sukuna’s fingers had been sealed in an unknown location, this has given rise to many theories, with some suggesting that Nobara may make a comeback. Her cursed technique is undoubtedly one of the most effective against Sukuna as it can target souls from long distances.
Despite the hope that Nobara will overcome the fatal injury caused by Idle Transfiguration, there is also the possibility that a body swap with Angel could be used to restore her cursed technique.
Please be advised that this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen series.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Comparing Nobara’s Return to Gojo’s Return
Despite the addition of Angel to the main cast shortly after Nobara’s apparent death, Hana Kurusu and Nobara have maintained their unique position in the manga. Yuji had initially feared that Hana Kurusu would replace Nobara, but that fear proved to be unfounded.
Despite Gege Akutami, the author, being notorious for his brutal treatment and use of irony with his characters, it is conceivable that Angel could replace Nobara in a more jolting fashion.
Hana currently coexists with Angel, who shares a condition similar to Yuji and Sukuna. Angel has been known as a sorcerer from the Heian era who accepted Kenjaku’s invitation to be reincarnated into the future. However, Angel has openly expressed her disapproval of this reincarnation process, stating that it violates “God’s law.”
Despite living in a symbiotic relationship, Angel and Hana’s incompatibility has been consistently evident in the story. Despite Angel’s repeated warnings, Hana was deceived by Sukuna while he inhabited Megumi’s body. As a result, Hana’s efficacy as a vessel has been further diminished due to the loss of one of her arms.
Despite Angel’s loyalty to Hana Kurusu, even when Hana chooses to ignore her orders during a battle, there is a chance that Angel may transfer to a different host depending on the situation. The latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, 266, unveiled the existence of a sealed Sukuna finger. Although it is unclear what purpose this finger serves after Sukuna’s demise, the potential to harm Sukuna using Nobara’s cursed technique remains.
Nobara was last seen in the Shibuya Incident arc, when Mahito caused a fatal injury by rupturing part of her head. However, Arata Nitta quickly intervened and placed her wound in stasis. While her injury was initially believed to be fatal, her ultimate fate remains unclear as Gege has not officially confirmed her death. This has led many fans to speculate that Nobara may make a return in future chapters.
Nobara’s injuries were caused by Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration and could not be healed using Reverse Cursed Technique. It is uncertain if the wound could be cured through the incarnation process, in which a sorcerer fully possesses a body.
Despite the fact that Nobara’s cursed technique is highly compatible with Sukuna’s fragmented souls, it is possible that Angel or someone else may utilize her abilities to aid Yuji in defeating Sukuna.
Concluding Thoughts
As the story continues, the focus has shifted towards Yuji and his personal development as he learns to let go of his ideals and his tendency to save everyone. This has solidified Yuji’s character as one who will ultimately defeat Sukuna through his own perseverance and gradual advancement to his level.
Despite Yuji’s memories portraying Nobara as one of the cherished individuals he has lost, the narrative has yet to explicitly confirm her death. It is plausible that Yuji remains unaware of Nobara’s true fate, possibly due to his supposed soul connection with Sukuna and the potential role Nobara could play as a crucial ally for the Sorcerers.
