As reported by SPOTV News on October 29, Jun Ji-hyun is in negotiations for the lead role in “Grove,” the upcoming project directed by Yeon Sang-ho. Currently busy filming “Tempest” alongside Kang Dong-won, Jun Ji-hyun’s schedule remains packed as she prepares for “Grove.”
The title “Grove” depicts a community of similar beings collaborating, sharing responsibilities, and organizing within a social structure. This film is set to further explore Yeon Sang-ho’s intricate zombie universe, promising a novel interpretation of the genre.
Director Yeon Sang-ho has achieved monumental acclaim in the K-zombie landscape with hits such as “Train to Busan,” “Peninsula,” and the animated feature “Seoul Station,” thereby crafting a compelling zombie mythology. “Grove” is anticipated to add yet another intriguing and inventive narrative to his ongoing series of zombie-themed works.
Famed for her adaptability across a range of genres, including romance, comedy, and action, Jun Ji-hyun will collaborate with director Yeon Sang-ho for the first time in this feature. Her memorable yet brief performance in the 2021 zombie thriller “Kingdom: Ashin of the North” captivated audiences worldwide, leading to heightened excitement regarding her role in Yeon Sang-ho’s distinctive storytelling style.
In the meantime, plans for “Grove” are underway for a theatrical launch, with casting still ongoing and production expected to kick off in the early part of next year.
