Boruto: Two Blue Vortex can be seen as a redemption for its predecessor, which faced widespread criticism for its lackluster narrative. However, beneath the surface of this sequel, which appears polished and captivating, there may lie a deeper, darker meaning connected to the enigmatic and powerful Shibai Otsutsuki and the series’ protagonist.
In the first chapter of the sequel, the protagonist seems to evade disaster almost effortlessly. While Kashin Koji warns him about dire consequences, ultimately, the fate of the protagonist rests in mysterious hands. What if this fate is intertwined with Shibai Otsutsuki, who may be preserving the protagonist to ultimately deal with Jura, an adversary Shibai desires to defeat?

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex – The Motive Behind Shibai Otsutsuki’s Interest in Jura
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex begins with the protagonist returning to the village, having been wrongfully branded an outsider due to the Omnipotence Act. His unexpected return shocked everyone, especially since he had left only a few years prior, aided by Kashin Koji.
His initial battle was against Code, which turned out to be heavily one-sided. Despite being aware of possible future timelines, the protagonist faced real threats to his life as indicated by Kashin Koji’s Ten Directions. Ultimately, he received unanticipated assistance that bolstered his confidence, leading to his victory.
Following his confrontation with Code, the protagonist faced the Four Self-aware God Trees of the Ten-tails in a subsequent conflict. As predicted, Boruto found himself overpowered by these divine entities yet managed to escape death, despite his knowledge of their capabilities, as showcased in chapter 13 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Once again, unannounced assistance facilitated his survival from what seemed to be an inevitable death. This trend continued as he received help against Kawaki and Hidari on multiple occasions. However, against Jura, the situation escalated when the God Tree impaled the protagonist’s chest, yet he survived with the ominous proclamation that ‘the heavens keep him alive.’
This unannounced help raises questions: could it be a divine being beyond Momoshiki, who merely seeks to possess the protagonist? Among the introduced celestial entities, Shibai Otsutsuki distinctly stands out as a possible source of divine intervention.
Shibai Otsutsuki is renowned as the strongest Otsutsuki, with jutsu referred to as shinjutsu, earning him the title of the ‘God of the Otsutsuki clan.’ This brings forth a pertinent inquiry: Why would Shibai support the protagonist? The answer, while simple, hints at deeper motivations that have been subtly foreshadowed.
Shibai Otsutsuki may desire the protagonist to eliminate Jura to mitigate any future threats to his status among clan members. While it may seem peculiar for a godlike Otsutsuki to fear a God Tree, the revelations regarding Jura’s skill clarify this concern.
In chapter 13 of Two Blue Vortex, Kashin Koji described Jura as ‘the most dangerous one from the God Trees.’ His calculated tactics demonstrate that he poses a significant risk, one severe enough that the Otsutsuki God may find it necessary to ensure the protagonist receives divine assistance to eliminate this formidable foe.
