JYP announced on July 18th that all members of Stray Kids, including Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N, have decided to renew their contracts before their expiration next year. The agency also stated that both Stray Kids and JYP have made the mutual decision to extend their contract, demonstrating their trust and belief in each other’s abilities. As a group that has made a mark in the global music market with their distinctive sound and dynamic performances, Stray Kids and JYP look forward to a promising future together.
In March 2018, Stray Kids made their debut with the release of their track “District 9” . The group has gained recognition for their exceptional songwriting abilities, as they have filled every album with their own self-composed songs. The unit known as 3RACHA, consisting of Bang Chan, Chang Bin, and Han, is responsible for writing and composing Stray Kids’ music. Their catchy and addictive songs, including “Maniac” , “Thunderous” , and “God’s Menu” , have earned them a devoted fanbase from all around the world.
Stray Kids have recently been the main act at several international music festivals, including I-Days in Milan, British Summertime Hyde Park in London, and Lollapalooza Chicago in the United States. Their upcoming mini album “Ate”is set to be released on July 19th, followed by the start of their world tour in August. The tour will kick off in Seoul and then continue to various cities such as Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Kaohsiung, Tokyo, Manila, Macau, Osaka, and Bangkok.
Other groups, in addition to Stray Kids, have also renewed their contracts with JYP.
In the beginning of 2022, the entire group of DAY6 also extended their contract. JYP announced the update, stating, “We have successfully renewed our agreements with all members and will continue our valuable partnership.”
DAY6 made their debut in September 2015 with the hit song “Congratulations” and has since been actively promoting their music. The group is known for their involvement in the writing and composing of all their songs. In an interview, member Wonpil expressed the group’s desire to create timeless music, stating, “We strive to make music that remains appealing even after time passes.” This was evident when their song “You Were Beautiful” made a comeback on music charts.
DAY6’s recent performance at the KBO League All Star Game left a lasting impression on the public, as they delivered an exhilarating show.
In addition, all nine members of TWICE, who debuted as a group in October 2015 with “Like OOH-AHH”, have also collectively renewed their exclusive contracts in 2022.
When asked about the reason behind TWICE’s successful contract renewal, member Nayeon stated, “I believe that we all still have the desire to continue performing together as a group and be known as TWICE.”With their 13th mini-album “With YOU-th”reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart, TWICE remains one of the top girl groups in the industry. The group has also been invited to perform at the halftime show of the first game of the 2024 Coupang Play Series.
