K-netizens Mock Foreign Fans for Protesting Against New FIFTY FIFTY

A post titled “International K-pop fans call for a boycott of the new FIFTY FIFTY“was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”on July 25, sparking widespread interest with more than 83,000 views and 400 comments.

This topic focuses on the reactions of international supporters to the teaser of FIFTY FIFTY, which will feature a new lineup consisting of 4 new members. This change comes after 3 out of the 4 previous members of the group departed last year due to a string of conflicts.

“I don’t understand why someone would willingly become a part of this group after all that has happened,”expressed a fan from another country. Another fan expressed their disappointment, saying, “Please stop trying to capitalize on the former members’ success, especially after the abuse that caused severe health problems for them.”

Despite this, K-netizens hold a contrasting viewpoint, expressing their approval for the new FIFTY FIFTY lineup instead of protesting against it. They even ridicule foreign fans for their responses.

K-netizens have provided the following comments:

  • False information about FIFTY FIFTY was widely circulated on Twitter last year, giving the impression of an organized effort against K-pop outsiders. When such misinformation is shared among those outside the K-pop community, it often goes uncorrected.
  • Looking at this, it seems like it’s true that overseas K-pop fans hate Korea. They must be unaware of public opinion in Korea, but it feels like they always react like that because they don’t trust Koreans
  • Despite not knowing anything, these individuals are pretending to have knowledge. It is advised that they learn Korean in order to obtain accurate information, as they are clearly ignorant.
  • If it becomes popular in Korea anyway, these people will be stanning the new lineup too
  • Why are they participating in a boycott if they have no intention of purchasing the music or album? What is the reason behind their boycott?
  • They don’t even know how many original members there were, let alone their names
