K-Netizens React to aespa Wanting to Perform in Coachella Again: ‘They Must…’

Following aespa’s statement expressing their interest in performing at Coachella once more, netizens are currently debating the merits of this potential decision.

On May 27, 2024, aespa performed at a comeback showcase for their “Armageddon”album. The showcase took place at Blue Square Master Card Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The idols discussed their upcoming plans and performances while they were there.

During the event, Karina shared her enthusiasm for visiting new countries she had yet to explore. Beginning on June 29, aespa will kick off their second world tour, titled “Synk: Parallel Line,”encompassing 14 different regions across Asia and Australia, beginning with June.

Karina then proceeded to discuss Coachella and expressed her desire to return.

“I was on the Coachella stage during the early days of my debut, but I was very disappointed because the preparation period was not that long. If I go again, I want to prepare harder and present a better image.”

On April 23, 2022, aespa joined the ranks of the few K-pop girl groups to perform at Coachella. They were part of 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Forever set during the second week. The group mesmerized the crowd with their popular tracks “Savage,””Next Level,”and “Black Mamba,”and also debuted an unreleased English song, “Life’s Too Short.”

Immediately following the comeback showcase, a well-known South Korean online community forum called Nate Pann shared a post titled “aespa’s desire to return to Coachella…”

Despite facing some criticism for their desire to return to Coachella, the girl group was determined to showcase their talent. As aespa’s inaugural performance in front of a live audience, their nerves and inexperience hindered their ability to fully display their skills.

“Presently, their schools have gained popularity abroad and they have refined their skills, thus their desire to return and showcase their abilities is understandable.”

After reading the post, netizens unanimously agreed with its sentiments. However, there is a specific fandom that is opposed to aespa’s return to Coachella, citing that LE SSERAFIM fans are still sensitive about the past controversies surrounding the girl group.

It is widely believed that aespa deserves a second opportunity to perform at Coachella. As rookies who debuted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, their nerves must have been overwhelming when they first performed at the festival.

Currently, they possess four years of experience and are consistently reliable, indicating that they are likely to demonstrate improved performance.
