On the night of August 12, a post titled “BTS’ international fans are attacking SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan”was uploaded onto the Korean forum “theqoo”. The post has since gained over 95,000 views and 1,268 comments, making it a popular topic of discussion in Korea.
Specifically, SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan recently shared a post commemorating the conclusion of the Olympics and endorsing the alcohol brand CASS, for which he serves as a model. In accordance with South Korea’s advertising regulations, the male idol included a comment cautioning against the detrimental consequences of consuming alcohol below the post.
Despite Seungkwan’s post being unrelated to the incident, some fans of BTS began accusing him of “attacking”Suga, who had recently been involved in a drunk-driving scandal. These fans also left negative comments on Seungkwan’s post.
Besides, Seungkwan’s Instagram pinned post dedicated to his late best friend Moonbin has also been targeted by malicious comments. These comments not only express a desire for Seungkwan to be reunited with Moonbin, but also defame the memory of the deceased.
It appears that Seungkwan is aware of these comments, leading him to make the decision to unpin the post in order to protect his late friend’s memories from any further attacks.
After noticing Seungkwan’s decision to remove his post featuring Moonbin, K-netizens express their extreme anger and criticize fans of BTS. Here are a few of their remarks:
- Messing with a deceased person is seriously inhumane
- Seriously what’s wrong with these people
- Are BTS fans as a group affected by mental illness?
- How could those insane women dare to interfere with Moonbin?
- I hope they get back what they did tenfold
- That fandom seems to have a real problem and those cr*zy people is not a minority
