K-Netz suspect this idol as ‘Thief’ who broke into late Goo Hara’s house: ‘It’s scary’

The internet was abuzz with the composite sketch of the suspect who burglarized the late Hara’s house, causing netizens to point fingers at this idol.

Following the release of BBC’s “Burning Sun”documentary, which highlighted the significant role played by the late Goo Hara in exposing the individuals involved in the notorious Kakao Talk group chat organized by Jung Joon Young, attention has now shifted to the theft incident that occurred at the former idol’s residence.

On June 23, an episode of SBS’s “Unanswered Question”was released, featuring a case that remained unsolved four years after it occurred in 2020.

After Hara’s death, a man broke into her dressing room and stole her safe, while leaving all other valuables untouched. The only evidence at the time was security footage, which only vaguely captured the suspect’s appearance.

During the show, SBS presented a composite sketch of the suspect, describing him as tall and muscular with a long chin, prominent cheekbones, and estimated to be in his late 20s to early 30s.

After the airing, a large majority of Korean netizens are specifically mentioning Block B’s Zico as the standout K-pop idol.

Upon examining his altered images alongside the suspect’s sketch, internet users strongly believe that Zico closely resembles the height and physical appearance described in the report.

Despite the possibility that others may share a similar build to Zico, there remains suspicion that he had a specific motive for doing so, as his name was brought up in the Jung Joon Young case.

During the “Burning Sun”investigation, Zico’s name was brought up when netizens revisited an interview from 2016 in which he mentioned Jung Joon Young’s possession of a “golden phone”solely used for Kakao Talk. Jung confirmed this, stating that the male idol would spend his time scrolling through the phone.

During the time when the Kakao Talk GC of Jung was exposed for sharing “molkas”(private videos) of their sexual assault victims, internet users accused Zico of being aware of the situation but choosing to remain silent.

As a result, Zico’s Instagram is being inundated with hateful remarks from netizens, who are pressuring him to address the issue and refute the claims that he is not the individual seen in the CCTV footage. Additionally, there is a demand for him to provide further information about the “golden phone”and demonstrate that he has no involvement in the matter.

Despite the incident, supporters continued to stand by Zico.

  • “No one can tell that it is Zico.”
  • “Please think about why Zico would do such a thing.”
  • “I am tired of accusing people without any real evidence.”
  • “Anyone who thinks it’s Zico should be sent to a mental hospital.”
