According to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, South Korea has been identified as the nation most impacted by deepfake sexual offenses. Specifically, the publication highlighted that more than half of the deepfake videos found on pornography websites feature female Korean celebrities.
As a result, there has been a surge of posts on the internet shedding light on deepfake websites that showcase female K-pop idols. These sites have gone to the extent of creating separate sections for over 200 female idols, including underage ones.
Moreover, there are even websites that heavily highlight the younger idols of NewJeans and IVE, with thousands of monthly videos dedicated to each of them.
As news of this has spread, numerous fans have begun to urge the agencies representing these idols to take legal action, while others have shared tips on how to report the deepfake websites in question.
