Despite not being active for several years, this second-generation K-pop idol’s fans are eagerly anticipating her comeback to the music industry.
In 2009, the girl group f(x) was introduced by SM Entertainment, quickly gaining popularity and recognition in South Korea. Recognized as “the most distinctive group in K-pop,”f(x) displayed their talents through their five members. At the height of their success, f(x) captivated audiences with their innovative concepts, praised music, and impressive choreography.
Out of all the members, Sulli and Krystal, who were the youngest, were considered the visual icons of their generation. When asked about the idol that fans miss seeing promote the most, Krystal is typically the top response.
At the age of 14, Krystal made her debut with f(x) and became the youngest member of the group. Her striking appearance quickly garnered her fame in the world of K-pop. What set Krystal apart was her effortlessly chic and distant demeanor. She was widely recognized as a “K-pop muse”during her tenure at SM Entertainment and was highly admired by renowned creative director Min Hee Jin.
Despite her breathtaking beauty, Krystal possessed an abundance of talent. Being the younger sibling of Jessica, the former lead singer of Girls’ Generation, Krystal had inherited her sister’s gift for singing. She was regarded as the ultimate all-rounder idol, excelling in singing, dancing, and stage performance. It was clear that Krystal’s path as a K-pop star was paved for success.
Despite possessing great potential, Krystal’s career was met with numerous obstacles, largely caused by management choices made by SM Entertainment. As a group, f(x) was overflowing with talent but faced unfortunate circumstances. Following Sulli’s departure in 2014, f(x) only made one comeback as a quartet with “4 Walls”before being put on a hiatus until their contracts ended. In the four years of f(x)’s inactivity, spanning from 2015 to 2019, the members pursued solo endeavors.
Despite being only 22 years old during her last promotion with “4 Walls,”Krystal made the decision to step away from the music industry. It has been nine years since then, and she has yet to return to her idol roots. Instead, she has shifted her focus to acting and other solo endeavors, leaving fans longing for her days as an idol.
Despite ending her career as an idol at the young age of 22, Krystal’s absence has only intensified her fans’ yearning for her comeback. She is revered as a legend in the idol realm, known for her mesmerizing stage presence that enthralls audiences. Recently, Krystal raised excitement among her fans by alluding to a possible return to the music scene. She has officially signed with BANA and delighted fans with a cover of “I’m Coming Back.”In addition, she has updated her profile picture on her music profile.
It is anticipated that Krystal will soon be promoted as a solo artist under BANA, the company founded by Kim Kihyun. Kim Kihyun previously worked in SM Entertainment’s international artist search and management department and is a close friend of Min Hee Jin. Additionally, BANA represents two of the main producers for NewJeans, 250 and FRNK.
There is a great deal of anticipation among fans for Krystal’s comeback to the music industry. This excitement is amplified by the fact that she has a talented team supporting her. The most highly anticipated collaboration is between Krystal and Min Hee Jin, the creative mastermind behind NewJeans.
