On September 8, 2024, during the second day of the awards, the South Korean girl group KISS OF LIFE (also known as KIOF) mesmerized the audience with a tribute inspired by Eiichiro Oda’s iconic anime and manga series, One Piece.

Held at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, this year’s music awards marked a historic moment as it was the first time the event took place outside of South Korea. The performance began dramatically with the One Piece OST track “Overtaken”as its INTRO, followed by the KISS OF LIFE’s hit songs, “Sticky”and “Midas Touch.”

In the opening act, Natty donned Luffy’s iconic straw hat, while Julie displayed Nami’s tattoo on her left shoulder. As the show progressed, Natty struck Luffy’s signature pose, and Haneul briefly wielded swords reminiscent of Zoro’s fighting style.

Belle skillfully executed Sanji’s kick moves with a cigarette between her lips, while Julie showcased the log pose on her wrist. The performance culminated with all members striking the signature left-arm-in-the-air pose of the Straw Hats.

KISS OF LIFE shared the spotlight with the boy band xikers, both groups preparing special tributes to senior artists. The girl group’s segment included covers of iconic tracks by BLACKPINK and 2NE1 later in their performance.
