Kagurabachi Anime: Competition Between Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen Studios

The renowned manga from WSJ, Kagurabachi, appears to be on the verge of receiving an anime adaptation, as hinted by a source claiming that prominent studios behind hits like Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen are vying for the rights.

Since its launch in 2023, Kagurabachi has seen its fanbase grow steadily. The narrative follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young protagonist on a mission to retrieve the magical swords that were taken from his deceased father, embodying a classic tale of revenge.

With the manga now in its third arc, titled Sword Bearer Assassination, speculation about an anime adaptation has emerged. Recently, new claims suggest that a well-known studio may be close to securing the anime rights.

Studios like Pierrot (behind Bleach) and MAPPA (known for Jujutsu Kaisen) are among the key contenders mentioned.

According to a Japanese anime account, the Kagurabachi official Twitter/X page noted, “A trustworthy Japanese anime source has shared insights regarding future projects for multiple series, including Kagurabachi.”

As for Kagurabachi, the aforementioned “leak” cites a “reliable source” (which remains unnamed), stating: “Kagurabachi is set to be adapted into an anime, with production companies currently in competition: MAPPA, Studio Pierrot, and others. Studio Pierrot is keen on acquiring a successful series from Shonen Jump.

Nevertheless, since this information lacks official confirmation, fans are advised to remain cautious. The account further mentioned, “As the source is not identified, we should treat this information with skepticism for the time being.”

“It’s highly probable that Kagurabachi will eventually be adapted into an anime, and major studios will compete for it, given its significant success within Shonen Jump. We should wait for more concrete details and the identity of the source before assuming this information is accurate.”

The manga currently has a total of 53 chapters, with new installments published weekly in Weekly Shonen Jump. Readers can access the latest chapters through the official app, Manga Plus.
