Kagurabachi chapter 28 review: Chihiro finds a way to breach the vault while Hiyuki arrives at the Rakuzaichi

The 28th chapter of Kagurabachi was officially published in issue 19 of Weekly Shonen Jump on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 12 am JST. This installment explored the mystery behind the Rakuzaichi’s vault and unveiled the presence of an emergency escape. Furthermore, the chapter featured Hiyuki’s arrival on the battlefield with Flame Bone.

In the previous chapter, the Kagurabachi manga featured the introduction of Yuu Inazuma, a new character who was determined to rescue his older sister from being auctioned off at Rakuzaichi. As the guards closed in on him, Chihiro arrived and utilized the lightning abilities of Cloud Gouger to rescue the young boy.

Chihiro Discovers the Emergency Exit in Rakuzaichi’s Vault in Kagurabachi Chapter 28

In chapter 28 of Kagurabachi, titled “Breach,”the story delves into the past and reveals events that took place four days before the auction on November 4. Chihiro Rokuhira confides in Shiba about the difficulties of maintaining a connection with Enten, as the vault existed in a sub-space.

According to chapter 28 of Kagurabachi, the Rakuzaichi auction vault belonging to the Sazanami family possesses a structure that defies the laws of the physical world, extending infinitely both above and below.

Chihiro ponders and recollects Kyora Sazanami’s words about the transfer of power within the Sazanami clan from one leader to the next. He inquires with Hakuri if he has witnessed the succession of leadership within the Sazanami clan.

When his grandfather became too ill to continue, the sorcerer’s father, Kyora Sazanami, took over as the new boss through a ceremony. Even though he has no memory of witnessing the ceremony, Hakuri discovers that his father and grandfather performed the ritual at the Sazanami clan’s cemetery, a place of great power.

Chihiro ponders if the Sazanami clan leaders have a tradition of performing a ceremony to transfer control of the storehouse to a new leader. However, they may have been mistaken about their “insurance”policy. In other words, Chihiro suggests that the passing of authority is not automatically granted to the next boss in the event of the current leader’s death.

In Kagurabachi chapter 28, there is a time-skip to November 6. Chihiro informs Shiba about a peculiar door she discovered while on a scouting mission in the vault. In contrast to the rest of the items stored there, the door seems oddly out of place and lacks a wall or a separate room.

Shiba proposes to Chihiro that there must be a method for entering and exiting the subspace. However, the main character explains that they have only witnessed people teleporting in and out, without using the door. Therefore, he concludes that the door must serve as an emergency exit.

Additionally, in Kagurabachi chapter 28, Chihiro speculates that should the leader of the Sazanami clan pass away, the ability to enter the vault would also be lost. However, the vault itself would remain intact. Therefore, it is possible that the enigmatic door serves as a means to retrieve items from the storage facility.

With the possibility in mind, Chihiro asks Hakuri and presents him with a drawing of the door. Surprisingly, the exiled sorcerer recognizes the crest on the door.

After that, the chapter shifts back to the present where Kyora Sazanami and the individuals at the auction hall are depicted responding to the disturbance occurring above them.

Upon realizing that the Enten user has cracked the secret to the Rakuzaichi’s vault, many auctioneers instruct their guards to pursue Chihiro in order to obtain the 50 million yen. Kyora is aware of this development.

Despite this fact, Kagurabachi chapter 28 uncovers the truth that the sole means of accessing the emergency exit door is by descending to the lower level of the auction hall, which also happens to be the Sazanami clan’s burial ground, Naginojoen. Kyora is relieved by Chihiro’s arrival as it will ultimately lead to an increase in the value of the Enten blade upon his demise.

Hakuri is waiting inside the car outside the Rakuzaichi building. Suddenly, Shiba teleports into the car, bringing Yuu Inazuma with him. Shiba then inquires if Hakuri is prepared to enter, and Hakuri confirms affirmatively.

Additionally, the chapter clarifies that while Cloud Gouger or Kuregumo Enchanted Blade may be damaged, Chihiro is still able to utilize it a limited number of times before it ultimately becomes ineffective.

Despite demonstrating “Mei”to rally his opponents, the protagonist soon realizes that some of the elite guards are formidable opponents. The arrival of Hiyuki at the scene in Kagurabachi chapter 28, armed with the Flame Bone, concludes the confrontation as she casually greets Chihiro.

Exploring the Themes of Loyalty and Betrayal in Kagurabachi Chapter 28

Takeru Hokazono expertly intertwines the past and present in an episodic structure. This is evident once more in chapter 28 of Kagurabachi, where the author masterfully unveils Chihiro’s tactics leading up to the Rakuzaichi auction.

In addition, Hokazono’s depiction of the Sazanami vault in this chapter highlights its intriguing nature. It undoubtedly sparks questions about the source of the Sazanami’s sorcery powers and the purpose of the emergency exit door, adding depth to the narrative.

Regrettably, chapter 28 failed to provide any insight on how or if Chihiro Rokuhira’s right arm was healed. A prevalent speculation among fans is that his arm may be prosthetic. However, this theory was not expanded upon in the chapter.

Despite this, we have managed to acquire an update on the status of the Cloud Gouger Enchanted Blade. It appears that Chihiro was unable to repair it. However, he is still able to showcase its abilities, although they are temporary. It is only appropriate that he is the one who will make the most of its powers.

Despite this, it remains uncertain if Chihiro was required to enter a life-long contract in order to wield the blade’s powers. The narrative suggests that all Enchanted Blade users must enter into a life-long contract with their blade.

Essentially, only the user has the ability to showcase the blade’s powers. While it was never officially confirmed, numerous fans believed that a person could only enter into the contract with an Enchanted Blade once.

Despite this, Chihiro’s display of the Cloud Gouger’s thunder and effective use of Enten’s recon abilities indicate that it is possible for a person to wield two Enchanted Blades at the same time.

In the upcoming chapters, we can only receive further validation from Takeru Hokazono himself. Nevertheless, the introduction of Hiyuki at the end of Kagurabachi chapter 28 was the most thrilling aspect.

Despite uncertainty about whether she will support or oppose Rokuhira, it is certain that she will confront Chihiro with inquiries in the upcoming chapter. Thus, Chapter 28 of Kagurabachi has effectively set the stage for further development of the series’ storyline.
