Kagurabachi Chapter 35 Highlights: The Revealing of Hakuri’s Relationship with an Ice Girl from the Past
The 35th chapter of Kagurabachi, titled “Cage,”commences with a scene set in August of the present year, centering on the preparations for the Rakuzaichi auction. Hakuri is given the responsibility of guarding a young girl, who has been recruited as a rare item for the auction.
Upon opening the door, he notices that the girl has left her food untouched behind the bars. In chapter 35 of Kagurabachi, she is referred to as the girl with the icy skin. She makes it clear that she would rather die of starvation than be sold to a despicable individual.
Hakuri serves as a constant reminder of her status as a valuable item up for auction, motivating her to eat in order to maintain her appeal. Additionally, she will be relocated to the original storage facility in three weeks.
If she continues to refuse, he will have no choice but to forcefully feed her. However, the girl reminds him that meals are meant to be enjoyed in the company of others.
Despite being kept in solitary confinement, Kagurabachi chapter 35 reveals that her special powers cause the air around her to always be chilly. Because of this, she cannot be placed in the same room as other merchandise.
It is intriguing that the girl desires someone to converse with during her confinement, rather than being released by Hakuri. Eventually, Hakuri consents to keeping her company during lunch hours, for the benefit of Rakuzaichi.
Sharing Trauma: Hakuri Opens Up to the Ice Girl in Kagurabachi Chapter 35
The following day, Hakuri arrives with a meal for the girl and opens up about the hardships he endures from his family, particularly his older brother, Soya Sazanami. In Kagurabachi chapter 35, it is revealed that Soya would frequently subject Hakuri to physical violence, using tools such as pliers and ropes.
The ice girl hears Hakuri’s story and offers to help. She takes his hands and uses her ice abilities to heal his injuries. The girl sympathizes with Hakuri, feeling that he too has been rejected like she has. In a playful manner, she suggests that they run away together, like two outcasts.
Despite Hakuri’s reminder that she is merely a merchandise and he is the merchant, the boy also expresses that he is not only working towards the success of the Rakuzaichi auction, but also wants to feel purposeful and useful in his actions.
As time passes, the ice girl’s health improves significantly. However, one day, Hakuri shows up with bruises which prompts the girl to ask about his well-being. Hakuri dismisses her concern and reveals that it’s the last day before she will be transferred to the Rakuzaichi’s original storeroom.
Upon seeing Hakuri’s battered and bruised appearance, the girl questions why he continues to endure the tortures. In Kagurabachi chapter 35, Hakuri is depicted breaking down in tears, expressing his sorrow that he does not possess the same “special”qualities as the rest of his family. The girl comes to the realization that Hakuri is essentially imprisoned within a figurative cage.
Having been confined to a small, narrow world, he had lost sight of his true value. Hakuri then inquires about his worth. The girl recalls how he had spoken to her, bringing joy to her meals and improving her health. Surprisingly, the boy returns the following day with another meal. He opens the cage and suggests they dine outside of their confinement.
Kagurabachi Chapter 35: The Resumption of Hakuri vs. Soya After a Painful Flashback
In chapter 35 of Kagurabachi, the story shifts to the present and depicts Hakuri’s fight with his brother Soya Sazanami. Despite his efforts, Hakuri is no match for his older sibling who constantly reminds him of his inability to defeat him. The chapter then returns to the past once more.
After preparing the meal, Hakuri Sazanami opens the door, expecting to welcome the ice girl. However, to his dismay, he finds her holding a knife to her throat. She apologizes to him for taking advantage of his kindness.
In Kagurabachi chapter 35, it is revealed that the ice girl had always planned to die, as she would rather end her life than be sold to someone and live a purposeless existence with her cursed skin.
Since Hakuri saved her from a certain death by starvation, she was left with no choice but to choose the alternative. Despite Hakuri’s pleas for her to continue living and his reminder of her valuable abilities that helped heal him, the enigmatic woman reveals that her former partner had also declared his love before betraying her and selling her into servitude.
The girl expresses sorrow over the fact that people always abandon her because of her skin. She believes that her value is limited to being a mere curiosity or a tool. As she prepares to end her life, the ice girl reveals to Hakuri that even outside the cage, hope is nonexistent.
Hakuri Sazanami’s mind is a battleground of past and present as he grapples with numerous unanswered questions. The weight of guilt weighs heavily on him as he considers the possibility that he may be responsible for her death. Simultaneously, he questions the true meaning behind the words the girl had spoken to him.
Despite this, his determination to keep moving forward remains. In chapter 35 of Kagurabachi, the pliers from the past strike Soya Sazanami’s back, causing the Spirit Energy in Hakuri’s eyes to flicker as he lays on the ground. The editor’s final remark suggests that the unstoppable growth of a prodigy (Hakuri) is foreshadowed.
