Kagurabachi Chapter 35 Recap

In Chapter 35, titled “Cage,”the story begins with a flashback to events that took place in August of the current year. The focus is on the preparations for the 108th Rakuzaichi auction, where Hakuri is given the responsibility of ensuring the well-being of a merchandise woman. After three weeks, the merchandise woman will be moved to the auction’s vault.

The boy opens the door and discovers the woman with untouched food. As described earlier in the chapter, the girl with the cold demeanor, known as the “icy skin,”explains to Hakuri that food is meant to be shared with others. She expresses a desire to have company while eating. Hakuri reluctantly agrees to her request, keeping Rakuzaichi’s well-being in mind.

During lunch, Hakuri opens up to her about the daily torture and trauma inflicted upon him by his family members, specifically his older brother, Soya Sazanami. The girl comes to the realization that the boy is also an outcast, just like her.

Gradually, Hakuri’s relationship with the girl with the icy skin deepens. On their final day together, he suggests they have their meal outside and unlocks her cage. Upon their return with food, Hakuri is horrified to see the girl holding a knife to her own throat.

The ice girl confesses that she had planned to end her life from the beginning, believing that there was no hope for her even beyond their current situation. In front of Hakuri, she cuts her own throat, causing the boy to experience intense emotional distress.

After that, the chapter shifts back to the present. Soya Sazanami uses his Isou to trap Hakuri. The boy, beaten and injured, is sprawled on the ground. His mind is consumed with thoughts of the ice girl, and he comes to the realization that he is the one responsible for her death.

The chapter concludes with a flashback scene of Soya using a pair of pliers to inflict pain on his brother. Hakuri is seen lying on the ground, his left eye emitting flickers of Spirit Energy.

Based on the events of the previous chapter, it can be expected that Kagurabachi Chapter 36 will feature Hakuri tapping into his true abilities and displaying a newfound strength. The chapter also disclosed that Soya frequently misplaced the instruments he utilized to torment Hakuri.

It is possible that Hakuri has a dormant sub-space, unknown to him, as a result of being struck on the back by the pliers in the flashback. While this is currently only speculation, the young sorcerer may eventually learn to control a subspace, similar to his father Kyora Sazanami.

Nevertheless, it remains intriguing to witness his utilization of it in a one-on-one confrontation. In addition, Kagurabachi Chapter 36 might also revert the attention to Chihiro and Shiba’s ongoing duel against Tenri.
