Kagurabachi chapter 48: Chihiro discusses Hishaku’s possible plans with Uruha and Hakuri

Titled “The Kokugoku Steam Squad,”Kagurabachi chapter 48 opens with Chihiro Rokuhira informing Yoji Uruha and Hakuri Sazanami that he has relocated the passengers to another train car. He plans to have them disembark when they reach the next station. Following that, only they and the conductor will remain on the train.

Chihiro mentions their destination: Senkutsuji Temple. Uruha, intrigued, asks Chihiro for a chance to hold the Enchanted Blade. In an endearing moment, Uruha treats the blade with the care one would give to a child. He also notes that Chihiro resembles Kunishige, evoking memories from the past.

Having not seen Kunishige in 19 years, Uruha is grateful that his father was not alone during his 15 years of hiding. Chihiro smiles, sharing that Kunishige lived a fulfilling life, though he reflects on his own traumatic memories.

Chihiro reveals that it has been three years since Hishaku murdered his father and that the organization has been covertly stealing the Enchanted Blades. They have also used Genichi Sojo and the Sazanami family to fulfill their sinister agenda.

He warns Uruha that the evil sorcerers are plotting against the holders of the Enchanted Blades, including him. Chihiro explains that the weapons he witnessed at the Kokugoku onsen were crafted by Genichi Sojo using Datenseki, the essence of the Enchanted Blade.

Furthermore, Chihiro elaborates that these Datenseki weapons grant the user temporary powers similar to an Enchanted Blade, but at the cost of their lives. Uruha is impressed by Chihiro’s knowledge, leading Chihiro to mention that he has seen Tenri use such a weapon before.

However, Chihiro was unaware of Hishaku’s mass production of these weapons. He speculates that Hishaku’s strategy could involve sending hired assassins to overwhelm the Sanzos simultaneously while the main sorcerers stay hidden.

Despite this, Uruha reassures that there is no reason to be overly concerned, stating that Hishaku’s first assault on a Sanzo fortress failed since he is still alive. He expresses confidence in the capabilities of the Kamunabi elite squad stationed at the Kokugoku fortress to handle the assassins.

The scene then shifts to the Kokugoku Fortress, where the Kamunabi elite squad prepares for battle against the Hishaku assassins after ensuring Uruha’s safety.

Back in the train, Yoji Uruha tells Chihiro that while the Kamunabi members don’t possess Enchanted-blade-level weaponry, they are elite fighters with superior speed, strength, and coordination.

Kagurabachi chapter 48 shows the Kokugoku Steam Squad employing strategic maneuvers to defeat their enemies. While one sorcerer is aware of Uruha’s journey to the Senkutsuji temple, they plan to ambush the ex-Enchanted Blade user.

This Hishaku sorcerer reflects on the inadequacy of their hired help but is nonetheless pleased that the Datenseki’s powers have helped eliminate some opponents. They express satisfaction that Yura, presumably Hishaku’s leader, has finally given them permission to proceed.

After three years of preparation, the sorcerer looks forward to commencing the main action. Their partner, identified as Hirohiko, inquires whether they know that Uruha is protected by an Enchanted Blade holder.

Hirohiko acknowledges the information but believes they can eliminate Uruha without confronting the Enten user. The chapter concludes on a cliffhanger as Hirohiko enters the train, where Chihiro is ready with his Enten activated, while Uruha and Hakuri are in a separate carriage.
