Kagurabachi Chapter 49: Chihiro’s Strategy to Overcome the “Deadlock” in Battle Against Hirohiko

Kagurabachi chapter 49 was released on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 12 am JST in Weekly Shonen Jump’s 42nd issue. This chapter showcases the intense battle between Chihiro and Hirohiko, where Hirohiko demonstrates his impressive origami-based sorcery against the Enten-user. Chihiro faces a difficult choice to ensure he engages effectively with the Hishaku member.

In the previous chapter, Chihiro Rokuhira confided in Yoji Uruha about the weapons he observed at the Kokugoku Sanzo. Meanwhile, the Kokugoku Steam Squad successfully defeated a wave of Datenseki-equipped assassins, only for Hirohiko, a Hishaku member, to annihilate them and board the train alongside Chihiro, Uruha, and Hakuri.

Kagurabachi chapter 49: Chihiro vs. Hirohiko continues as Uruha urges the Enten-user to go full-throttle

Titled “Deadlock,”Kagurabachi chapter 49 begins with Chihiro assessing Hirohiko and his guards. He realizes he has never encountered the Hishaku member on the day his father was killed. Chihiro questions Hirohiko’s intentions, and the sorcerer reveals his goal is to eliminate Uruha and nullify the Eternal Contract.

Hirohiko boasts about how easily he dispatched the Kokugoku Steam Squad, who intended to say a proper farewell to Uruha. Chihiro acknowledges the threat, particularly since Hirohiko decimated a group that had already bested the Datenseki-equipped assassins. The chapter then shifts focus to Yoji Uruha, who takes down a guard.

Uruha instructs Chihiro to concentrate on the pressing threat posed by Hirohiko. This prompts Chihiro to remember his mission, and he envelops himself in Nishiki to confront Hirohiko and his hired assassins. Hirohiko then unleashes his origami-based sorcery power, “Blood Crane.”

The Hishaku sorcerer’s technique manifests origami paper cranes that he projects at Chihiro. Simultaneously, other assassins rush at him. Notably, Hirohiko’s blood cranes pierce through their bodies, splattering blood in Chihiro’s eyes and obscuring his vision.

Seizing the moment, Hirohiko charges at the Enten-user with his blade. Chihiro informs Hakuri that he’s preparing to execute a “Centipede.”He unleashes his Kuor in a shockwave attack reminiscent of Kyora Sazanami’s technique from the Rakuzaichi arc.

Hakuri wisely pulls Uruha down by his ponytail to shield him from the onslaught. Meanwhile, Yoji Uruha realizes he might prevent Chihiro from fully unleashing his abilities against Hirohiko.

Uruha urges Chihiro to focus entirely on defeating Hirohiko without concern for him, leading to a critical moment in the fight. The narrative reveals Chihiro Rokuhira stabbing Hirohiko and leaping out of the train’s window.

As Chihiro grapples with leaving Uruha behind, he acknowledges the risk, but feels he must alter their power dynamics to gain the advantage.

Kagurabachi chapter 49: Chihiro reveals his plans to gain the upper hand against Hishaku

The storyline explains the relative strengths of the Kamunabi and Hishaku factions. Chihiro is aware that Hishaku possesses numerous disposable assassins capable of using Datenseki to harness powers similar to Enchanted Blades.

In contrast, the Kamunabi has members with true Enchanted Blade abilities who are not expendable. However, both factions have formidable fighters without any Enchanted Blades.

This indicates that Kagurabachi chapter 49 demonstrates how both Kamunabi and Hishaku maintain equivalent personnel and power levels. If Chihiro can triumph over Hirohiko, the balance of power may shift in their favor.

Beyond eliminating the Hishaku sorcerer, Chihiro intends for Hakuri and Uruha to reach the Senkutsuji Temple and encounter the next bearer of the Eternal Contract. Chihiro recognizes that the deadlock can be broken if Hakuri can access his Storehouse to retrieve the Stolen Blades.

This capability would empower Uruha and the next Enchanted Blade contract holder to unleash their sorcery prowess. The focus then returns to Chihiro’s intense conflict with Hirohiko.

Hirohiko believes that both he and Chihiro are now free to showcase their full abilities since Chihiro has no one left to defend. The Hishaku member expresses curiosity about Chihiro after hearing praise of him from Yura, the Hishaku’s leader. However, Hirohiko indicates that they won’t face this battle alone.

Kagurabachi chapter 49 concludes with the Hishaku sorcerer revitalizing the fallen guards using Datenseki, leaving Chihiro to confront both Hirohiko and an onslaught of Datenseki-equipped assassins from the Anti-Enten Squad.
