The opening scene of Kagurabachi Chapter 55 unfolds within a tense warehouse setting where the Masumi members urge Hakuri to recuperate after exerting his energy. One of them suggests he requires at least thirty minutes to safely utilize his sorcery again, but only ten minutes have elapsed, leaving him with twenty before he could potentially face severe repercussions, including brain damage or even death.

Amidst this urgency, Chihiro Rokuhira alerts Hakuri that the Hishaku forces are preparing for a full-on assault on the Senkutsuji temple. Uruha exhibits clear anxiety as the Masumi devise an escape plan through an emergency exit for both Hakuri and Uruha.

Concurrently, preparations ensue to back Samura in his current clashes against Hishaku reinforcements. The Masumi swiftly awaken their commander, who resembles a younger version of Samura. Though the young commander grumbles about his desire for more sleep, declaring himself “a growing boy” , he eventually rouses, lighting a cigarette for the upcoming confrontation.

The narrative then pivots to Samura, a visually impaired swordsman in the midst of a fierce battle against Hishaku sorcerers. Despite his blindness, he skillfully discerns that his adversaries use explosive sounds and gunpowder smoke to obscure his senses.

A Hishaku sorcerer, wary of Samura’s perceptive abilities, observes as he adeptly dispatches several assassins. Altering his strategy, the sorcerer hurls pine trees at Samura, aiming to catch him off guard with harmless objects.

Meanwhile, Uruha understands that the echoing explosions are devised to disrupt Samura’s echolocation, which relies on sound, scent, and the intent of foes. Although Uruha yearns to assist Samura, he fears that their presence might disorient him, leading to dire outcomes. The Masumi commander bluntly instructs them not to worry about Samura, asserting that they are responsible for his safety.

Uruha grapples with the effectiveness of the Masumi’s support under the drenching gunpowder stench that obscures familiar scents, complicating Samura’s echolocation capabilities.

Fuura, a monk from the temple, articulates that the elite Masumi team excels in ninjutsu and stealth techniques. They possess the exceptional capability to completely erase their presence, including scent, sound, and murderous intent, which permits them to navigate the battlefield without confusing Samura. He highlights that only the elite Makizumi can effectively collaborate with Samura.

Just as Hakuri and Uruha attempt their escape, they are besieged by a sorcerer empowered by Datenseki, resulting in a sudden ambush.

Meanwhile, the Makizumi warriors struggle with diminishing numbers as they discuss the formidable task of eliminating all Hishaku assassins. They express hope for the arrival of just one more sorcerer to help balance the battle. Their plea is seemingly answered with the arrival of Uruha and Hakuri.

Even though Hakuri and Uruha cannot conceal their sound, scent, or intent to harm, they have no choice but to forge ahead. Uruha employs his Iai sword techniques to stand alongside Samura, who appears somewhat irritated by their interference.

A Masumi member seizes this moment as an opportunity to devise an escape plan for Uruha, Hakuri, and Samura, believing it best to let the Hishaku gradually diminish their Datenseki stones. Nonetheless, Hakuri is resolute, choosing to fight at the side of his companions, regardless of the peril. In a thrilling conclusion, Hakuri Sazanami once again activates his sorcery abilities, ready to combat the incoming Hishaku sorcerers alongside the contracted sword bearers.
