Kai Cenat’s Fine for New York Riot Incident Paid, But No Trial

Despite being accused of inciting a riot in August 2023, Kai Cenat has fulfilled his responsibility by paying $55,000 in restitution and issuing an apology on his Snapchat. As a result, he will not be brought to trial.

In August 2023, an apparently harmless PS5 giveaway organized by popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat in New York City took a violent turn when a riot occurred.

The streamer was quickly taken into custody and accused of encouraging a riot. He also shared his disappointment with his fans after taking a brief pause from streaming.

On May 7, 2024, it was announced that Kai would not face prosecution after paying a hefty $55k fine and issuing an apology on his Snapchat.

The Union Square Partnership received $55,000 from him, and he also requested his friends Duke Dennis and Muktar Din to contribute $1,049.50 each. The $57,000 in fines will be utilized to cover the expenses incurred by the city for repairing the damages caused by the riot.

Kai Cenat’s Snapchat apology must remain on his account for a duration of 24 hours, after which the charges against the influencer will be dropped.

“My promotion and advertising of a PS5 giveaway in Union Square Park inadvertently caused a dangerous situation. This resulted in an unsafe environment for the residents, workers, and first responders in the neighborhood, as well as my followers who attended the event,”the apology stated.

“I regret the disturbance and harm caused to the community, park, vehicles, and storefronts in the vicinity.”

“I initially had good intentions of creating an enjoyable and exciting experience for others, but I never anticipated that it would lead to negative consequences for the city. In hindsight, I realize that I should have carefully considered the post before making it public.”

“The behavior of certain attendees was deemed inappropriate. It is never acceptable to resort to physical violence or damage property or attempt to harm others in situations like this.”

This announcement comes shortly after the well-known influencer reached 10 million followers on Twitch, earning them the 10th spot on the list of most followed individuals on the platform.
