Kaiju No 8 creator marks anime premiere in the cutest way

The premiere of the Kaiju No 8 anime has finally arrived, and the manga’s creator is commemorating the occasion in the most heartwarming manner.

The highly anticipated first episode of Kaiju No 8 has been launched on Crunchyroll today. This new anime series, produced by Production I.G., has garnered a lot of buzz as one of the top releases in the Spring 2024 lineup. It begins on a promising note, staying true to the source material.

In honor of the anime series’ debut, Naoya Matsumoto, the creator of Kaiju No 8 manga, created a charming illustration. The artwork depicts young Reno and Kafka, now transformed into monsters, sitting side by side and eagerly watching the first episode of the anime.

The picture also includes a robotic cat, which serves as a representation of the author. This addition adds a charming and humorous touch to the illustration. To further enhance the cuteness factor, the mangaka has included a small bucket of popcorn and a tiny soda alongside the boys.

The illustration clearly conveys Matsumoto’s satisfaction with the anime adaptation, which is also shared by his readers. Based on the reception of Kaiju No 8’s premiere and the widespread excitement surrounding the anime, it can be concluded that the series will be a major contender in this anime season.

For those who have not yet seen the initial episode, Kaiju No 8 takes place in a world destroyed by kaiju, which are similar to Godzilla creatures. To confront the frequent kaiju assaults, there are two main groups: the Defense Corps, consisting of highly skilled soldiers who defeat the kaiju, and the Monster Cleaners, responsible for disposing of the kaiju’s remains.

Kafka Hibino, the main character of the story, is a 32-year-old man who is currently employed as a cleaner due to his unsuccessful attempt to join the Defense Corps. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he miraculously survives a kaiju attack, but unfortunately, he is unexpectedly transformed into a kaiju when an unidentified one enters his mouth.

Kaiju No 8 will return next week following its successful debut.
