The long-awaited premiere of the Kaiju No 8 anime has finally taken place in Spring 2024. Here is a list of all the monsters that have been featured in the anime thus far.
The popular action shonen manga Kaiju No 8 is written and illustrated by mangaka Naoya Matsumoto. It has been a huge success for Shueisha, currently ranking as one of the top 20 ongoing books on Manga Plus. Fans were delighted to hear of the announcement of an anime adaptation in 2022, and now it has finally arrived.
In the Kaiju No 8 universe, massive kaiju creatures reminiscent of Godzilla wreak havoc on cities, with Japan being the most frequently affected by these incidents. The Defense Corps is responsible for eliminating these kaiju in order to safeguard civilians. Once the Defense Corps has completed their task, another organization takes on the responsibility of disposing of the kaiju corpses.
With the release of Kaiju No 8 on Crunchyroll as part of the Spring 2024 anime lineup, we are gathering all the monsters featured in the season. This will give you a glimpse into the world of being a monster expert!
Introduction to the kaiju
The anime opens with a kaiju causing chaos in Yokohama. The creature is enormous, resembling Godzilla with its spiky spine and large, circular eyes. Its size is so immense that it takes the Cleaning Corps several days to dispose of its lifeless body.
The debut kaiju in Kaiju No 8 serves as a preview of what is to come in the series. Despite not being able to showcase its full destructive abilities, the monster is swiftly defeated by Mina Ashiro’s Third Division of the Defense Corps.
2. Yoju: The Mighty Assistant Kaiju
The auxiliary kaiju from the first creature, known as a yoju, is the second monster to make an appearance in Kaiju No 8. However, it bears no resemblance to the original monster or the honju. Unlike the Godzilla-like appearance of its counterparts, this auxiliary kaiju has a four-legged body with a massive head and protruding eyes.
As Kafka Hibino and Leno Ichikawa are cleaning the original kaiju’s intestine, a sudden appearance of a monster from within the creature’s body catches them off guard. The monster attacks them, putting Kafka and Leno’s lives in danger. However, they are saved by the timely arrival of Mina Ashiro and her team, who are able to defeat the monster and rescue them.
3. The rampaging kaiju
This kaiju is the one that sets everything in motion. Following their rescue by Mina and the Third Division, Kafka and Leno are admitted to the hospital while Mina’s team continues their search for the remaining yoju. However, Kafka unexpectedly comes face to face with what they were searching for, but its importance will only become clear later on.
The flying kaiju is a diminutive creature resembling an insect. Without warning, it appears and appears to have a specific aim towards Kafka, who is then caught off guard as it flies directly into his mouth. After consuming the parasitic monster, Kafka undergoes a transformation into the infamous Kaiju No 8.
5. Kaiju No 8: The Monster Within
Kaiju No 8, the main monster in the series, holds the utmost importance. When the flying kaiju enters Kafka’s mouth, he undergoes a dramatic transformation and becomes an Identified Kaiju. Initially, Kafka is unaware of the significance of this change, but he will soon comprehend the immense power he possesses as the creature.
Kaiju No 8’s appearance is easily recognizable with its humanoid features and striking turquoise accents on various parts of its body. When Kafka transforms into this creature, he gains an immense amount of strength, capable of defeating even the largest kaiju with a single punch. With such formidable combat abilities, this monster currently stands as one of the most powerful characters in the anime.
As the anime is just getting started, viewers can expect to encounter a multitude of monsters as the story unfolds. With each new episode, we will be introducing the latest Kaiju to appear in Kaiju No 8.
