Fans have high hopes for the future of Kaiju No 8, one of the surprise hits of the year. With Season 1 already airing, many are eagerly anticipating improvements in certain aspects of the show.
After the first season of Kaiju No 8 came to an end, TOHO quickly revealed plans for a second season by releasing a teaser. The announcement was met with great anticipation, as the anime had successfully retained a dedicated fan base despite competing with popular series such as Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia.
With the confirmation of another season, fans are already discussing their hopes for the future of the show. One aspect that stands out is the characters, as viewers of Kaiju No 8 unequivocally express their desire for improved detail in their designs.
A discussion on Reddit sparked a passionate consensus on the subject. One commenter expressed, “I have felt this way since Episode 1, but it seemed like many others didn’t care… I cared too much haha.”However, their breaking point came when they saw Narumi, causing them to be overwhelmed.
A few others expressed a similar viewpoint. Another comment states, “The anime’s designs are definitely its weakest aspect, especially when compared to the manga.”
According to another commenter, the anime gives off a rounder vibe, particularly in the character’s hair which is filled with curves, whereas the manga has a sharper design. The commenter also mentions that Narumi appears to be the most exaggerated, causing them to almost laugh upon seeing him.
In Episode 12, the final installment of Season 1, Gen Narumi makes their debut. If there is another season, Production IG may have the opportunity to revisit the designs with greater resources, as they now have an established audience.
It was not specified when Kaiju No 8 would make a comeback. We are hopeful for a 2025 release, although it is wise not to assume anything in the unpredictable world of the anime industry.
