Kaijus have never been so fashionable: between Godzilla Minus One which was a real event release for the end of 2023, the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series which invaded the small screens or even the next one (and a bit strange) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, big monsters often come back these days.
Very soon, the kaijus will also be entitled to a standard bearer on the anime side. The genre is not foreign to the medium, it’s true, but the adaptation which is preparing its release offers a fairly original plot: yes, humanity will have to fight the giants, but the giants in question also have a part of this humanity in their ranks.

Kaiju No. 8 Plot: What is the Anime About?
The anime Kaiju No. 8 will adapt the manga by Naoya Matsumoto. We are immersed in a world where attacks by giant monsters are commonplace, and have become part of the world’s own organization and economy.
Kafka Hibino always dreamed of joining the Defense Forces to face these titans, but kept failing the entrance exam. Resigned, he is content to clean the carcasses after the battle… until a bug takes hold in his system and transforms him into a special kaiju, the eighth of his type. He therefore becomes Kaiju number 8.
When is Kaiju No. 8 coming out?
Kaiju No. 8 will be released from April 13, 2024 on Crunchyroll. The announcement was made during the publication of a new trailer revealing more elements about the plot and its characters.

Kaiju No. 8 Trailers
Trailers have already been published, allowing us to take a look at what awaits viewers of Kaiju No. 8. In October 2023, Crunchyroll presented the first trailer, presenting splendid settings and giving a glimpse of the destruction caused by kaijus.
More recently, another trailer was also revealed, to give the release date of the anime while revealing more of the story.

The full cast of the anime adaptation has yet to be revealed, but we will keep this space updated with any new information.
On the technical side, Kaiju No. 8 is among these ambitious animes, in particular thanks to the studio in charge of the animation: we are talking here about Production IG, which has already offered us renowned series like Psycho-Pass or the recent version from Ghost in the Shell.
For the design, it was the Khara studio (behind Shin Godzilla) which rolled up its sleeves.
