The plot of the Kakegurui manga takes place at the Hyakkaou Private Academy, a renowned school dedicated to preparing its students for the future. The academy primarily caters to students from wealthy families, which explains its unique customs and traditions that set it apart from other institutions.

During the day, the institution operates as a typical school, providing students with a comprehensive education based on a wide-ranging curriculum. However, when night falls, it transforms into a gambling establishment, teaching its students the skills of manipulation and financial management.

Those who come out victorious in these games gain the ability to reign over the school. At this academy, the winners live like royalty, while the defeated bear the consequences. Yumeko Jabami, an innocent-looking transfer student, joins the Hyakkou Private Academy and takes part in the “special curriculum.”

In contrast to the other students, she does not play those games with the sole purpose of winning; instead, she revels in the excitement of gambling. The story highlights Yumeko’s exceptional abilities, as she imparts the true art of manipulation and gambling to her fellow students.
