Kang Full Discusses New Series “Light Shop”on Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, renowned writer Kang Full engaged in an insightful interview regarding his latest series, “Light Shop,” held in Seoul. As a meaningful gesture, he presented light bulbs to those present, symbolizing his profound connection to this project. Kang characterized the series as “a genre challenge,” emphasizing its unconventional storytelling techniques. “The real story begins in episode five, and I was concerned viewers might not wait for it,” he revealed. “However, it was a narrative I was passionate about sharing, and the positive reception has been a relief.”
Combining Horror and Romance
“Light Shop” distinguishes itself with its unique blend of horror and romance, setting it apart from Kang Full’s earlier work, “Moving.” He acknowledged the difficulties in adapting horror for the television format but expressed heartfelt appreciation for Disney’s commitment to the project. “Horror generally translates better in films, but their faith in me made this endeavor feasible,” he explained.
Collaboration with Talented Director and Cast
Kang Full had high praise for director Kim Hee Won, whom he personally recruited for the series. “This narrative revolves around human experiences, and I needed a director capable of effectively guiding the cast,” he shared. “His commitment was extraordinary, and the acclaim for his direction is well-deserved.”
Kang Full also expressed admiration for his cast, particularly highlighting Seol Hyun’s performance, which surpassed his expectations. “She was suggested by the director, and despite my initial hesitations, her acting blew me away. She truly is exceptional.” Additionally, he recognized the valuable contributions of Park Jung Min and Go Yoon Jung, who made memorable guest appearances, stating, “They enriched the story greatly.”
Future Projects: Teasing “Moving 2”
Looking ahead, Kang Full teased potential developments for “Moving 2,” sharing, “While I don’t have anything set in stone, I’m already envisioning the storyline. I aim to craft an experience that is completely surprising for the audience.”
