Kangin Apologizes to Leeteuk for Causing Backlash Over His Attempt to ‘Defend’ Him

In a recent vlog, former Super Junior member Kangin bowed his head to Leeteuk after the leader received unfair criticism for posting kind words about him.

The ex-idol recently posted a new vlog titled “Thank you for watching | Kangin’s Reading Comments”on his official YouTube channel.

In this instance, he briefly provides an update on his recent activities, mentioning that he has been exercising and feeling good. He then proceeds to read through the comments left by his supporters and online users on his video blogs.

Despite the expected abundance of hateful comments, with people calling him names like “sc*mbag,””trash,”and more, Kangin remained humble and responded:

“I keep saying ‘It’s a mistake of the past.’ I say this repeatedly but I will do the right thing.”

Despite initially being forgiven by ELFs (fans), Kangin’s involvement in a DUI scandal, assault controversy, and second drunk driving case ultimately led him to leave Super Junior in 2019, resulting in the ongoing negative comments he receives.

Following that, he has been engaging in self-reflection and has largely been absent from the entertainment industry. His most recent public appearance was in May at the wedding of his former co-member Ryeowook, where all 15 members of Super Junior were finally reunited.

Despite the joyful atmosphere, Leeteuk, the leader, received unwarranted criticism for his comment when he introduced Kangin to the attendees and requested their forgiveness. He stated:

“You guys are seeing Kangin who has spent more time reflecting than he has been doing his current activities. I ask for your forgiveness.”

Returning to the vlog, another online user remarked:

“I saw Leeteuk stab Kangin in the back twice. Bigger picture, lol.”

Kangin’s immediate response to reading this was to defend Leeteuk and issue an apology, stating:

“I can’t go into detail regarding this situation, but Leeteuk Hyung didn’t have any intentions when he said that. The atmosphere on set was bright and cheerful, and he just wanted to remove the awkwardness.

I hope there will be no misunderstandings because the article came out that way unintentionally. I am worried. I want to say that Teuk-hyung is in a difficult situation because of me, so I’m very sorry. I hope you don’t misunderstand! It’s all because of me.”

He also appealed to ELFs:

“To all Super Junior fans, if you want to criticize, do it to me. I am really sorry.”

In addition, he expressed his support for his former group by saying:

“Recently, in Myeongdong, I went to eat hotpot. A Chinese employee waited until I finished eating. She then asked me for an autograph very fluently in Korean, so I signed it. She said she came to Korea for Super Junior. That’s why she learned Korean. She cried a lot.

She might not have come for me because currently I am not a Super Junior member, but they have such an influence overseas. I hope they can get a lot of recognition.”
