Ever since his debut in chapter 158, Hajime Kashimo from Jujutsu Kaisen has consistently surprised readers with his skills. From his unexpected victory against Kinji Hakari to his thrilling battle against Ryomen Sukuna, the reincarnated sorcerer has effectively showcased his strength and solidified his position as a formidable opponent.

Despite his previous participation in the final arc, Kashimo’s ultimate confrontation with Sukuna proved to be his last. The Demon King’s powers were too much for him to handle, but Kashimo managed to push Sukuna to the brink and force him to reveal his true form. Despite the outcome, the battle had already surpassed that crucial moment.

However, there seems to be a continued curiosity surrounding a certain detail that was not fully explained – what was Kashimo’s role in the month leading up to the Battle of Shinjuku? According to a popular theory, he was originally meant to serve as a counter to Gojo, but due to unforeseen circumstances, his role ended up being different.

There has been an abundance of theories surrounding Jujutsu Kaisen, including one involving popular character Hajime Kashimo, a reincarnated sorcerer known as the “God of Lightning”. He was among the reincarnated sorcerers who participated in the Culling Games and the Shinjuku Showdown.

Despite the positive reception of his battle against Sukuna, many had hoped for a different outcome. However, prior to this event, a popular theory had arisen questioning why Kashimo waited until December to confront Sukuna instead of immediately engaging in battle, and why he chose to join the fight after Gojo.

Initially, it is false that Kashimo’s intention was for Gojo to weaken Sukuna in order for him to take credit for the victory. In reality, Kashimo pursued Gojo because, just like Gojo and Sukuna, he placed great importance on strength. He likely agreed with Gojo and Sukuna’s choice to battle at full strength, knowing that it would also fulfill his desire to face Sukuna without any hindrances.

As we continue, with this established, the concept becomes even more fascinating. Before the Shinjuku Showdown, it can be assumed that Kashimo encountered Gojo and was defeated. Similar to the two sorcerers, Kashimo was once known as “The Strongest.”For someone of their caliber, defeat is a significant event. Therefore, it is understandable that Kashimo chose to pursue Gojo after being defeated by the Six Eyes user.

During the Gojo vs Sukuna battle, Kashimo was quick to prohibit any interference, showcasing his understanding of Gojo and the significance of the fight. Soon after, he even compliments Sukuna’s use of Domain Amplification, further suggesting that he may have faced Gojo himself and utilized the same technique to counter Gojo’s Limitless ability.

Ultimately, despite being on the verge of releasing his Cursed Technique (CT), Mythical Beast Amber, during their confrontation, Kashimo was halted by Gojo. It is possible that Gojo’s decision was influenced by his desire to have a rematch with Kashimo after the final battle and address any unresolved inquiries he saw mirrored in him. This is why it was crucial for Gojo to engage in combat with Sukuna, as it would provide the answers he sought.

Final Thoughts

Including a Gojo vs Kashimo bout in Jujutsu Kaisen, even if only briefly, would have been extremely valuable. It would have been an epic match-up, similar to others that have been featured, and one that would have been memorable and worth remembering. However, the decision to exclude it is understandable, as it would have lessened the impact of chapter 236.

Despite his limited screen time, Hajime Kashimo was still an impressive character. His unique CT even caught Sukuna by surprise, showcasing his potential. It is undeniable that he could have played a larger role in the ongoing battle.
