Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 14 was released on September 21, 2024, showcasing the protagonist’s escape after he had just been captured by the Hidden Leaf shinobi in the previous installment. Key characters Shikamaru and Mitsuki played crucial roles in helping the protagonist evade capture without drawing attention.
However, one intriguing aspect of this chapter is the protagonist’s reluctance to reveal that Kawaki had his parents sealed within a separate time-space. Instead, he merely informed his allies that they were safe. This omission may suggest a potential shift in Kawaki’s objectives—from an intent to kill the protagonist to potentially teaming up with him in a mission against the God Trees.

Potential Reasons Behind Kawaki’s Change of Goals After Boruto Kept His Identity Hidden
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 14 focused on the protagonist’s interrogation following his capture during the God Trees’ emergence. Surprisingly, the interrogation proceeded effectively, as the protagonist disclosed all he knew about the God Trees and their intentions to wreak havoc on Earth to Konohamaru and the village leaders.
Nevertheless, the situation escalated when Konohamaru tried to inquire about the protagonist’s source, Kashin Koji. Bound to keep this ally’s identity confidential, the protagonist refrained from naming him, inciting Ibiki’s ire, who was eager to confront him over the village leader’s death.
The protagonist confirmed that the Seventh Hokage was alive and safe, but withheld more information, which surprised both Eida and her brother, who were anticipating that he would disclose Kawaki’s actions to the village leaders.
This behavior indicates a discrepancy in feelings—the protagonist wishes to protect Kawaki, while Kawaki remains determined to eliminate him due to the Otsutsuki within. Evidence of this contrast appeared during the protagonist’s initial encounter with Kashin Koji, where possible futures depicted a fatal clash between the protagonist and Kawaki.
Despite these foreboding futures, the protagonist rejected them, vowing to do his utmost to steer his brother Kawaki back to the light. This compassionate gesture may have opened the door for Kawaki to reconsider his stance, possibly opting for a temporary truce with the protagonist to address the pressing threat of the Nine-Tails’ God Trees.
With the protagonist’s foresight regarding the future (granted through Kashin Koji) and Kawaki’s battle prowess, the two might collaborate to confront the God Trees and safeguard their planet from impending doom.
