On September 13th at approximately 5 PM, KBS released an article entitled “Min Hee-jin’s Side ‘Stopped NewJeans from Announcing Their Position’… HYBE ‘Regretful Toward Min’.”
The article indicated that Min Hee-jin had advised NewJeans members against proceeding with a live broadcast just before their scheduled appearance.
It also highlighted that the members initially planned to conduct a press conference following Min Hee-jin’s dismissal but were persuaded not to move forward with that plan.
However, the article was taken down from KBS’s official website the following day. Media outlets typically delete articles due to requests from involved parties or inaccuracies in reporting. Despite being a public broadcaster, KBS has not yet offered any explanation for the abrupt removal of the article.
Some speculate that the deletion may relate to Min Hee-jin’s alleged prior knowledge of NewJeans’ broadcast, which she reportedly did not communicate to HYBE, potentially constituting a failure in her responsibilities as an inside director. According to Article 412, Section 2 of the Commercial Act, a director must promptly inform the auditor of any situation that may significantly harm the company. Furthermore, Article 399 (Liability of Directors) dictates that a director is jointly responsible for damages if they breach laws, the company’s bylaws, or neglect their duties either intentionally or carelessly.
Currently, former CEO Min Hee-jin has filed for an injunction seeking her reinstatement, maintaining the legitimacy of the shareholder agreement. The NewJeans members also proceeded with their live broadcast intending to support her return.
The controversy surrounding Min Hee-jin’s alleged interference in the broadcast and the subsequent article removal has escalated the situation further.
