Kelley Heyer Urges Fans to Stop Doxxing Woman Behind Viral Apple Dance Video Controversy

The creator of the TikTok-viral Apple Dance, Kelley Heyer, is asking fans for kindness after a concert-goer at Charli XCX’s Sweat Tour NYC “disrupted” a video she recorded at the event.

Kelley Heyer’s Apple Dance gained immense popularity on social media in summer 2024, set to Charli XCX’s hit song ‘Apple.’ The choreography, which was shared in June, quickly inspired users to showcase their own renditions of the infectious dance.

Heyer was present at the Sweat Tour NYC, a concert co-headlined by Charli XCX and the Australian artist Troye Sivan.

As Charli began performing ‘Apple,’ Heyer attempted to showcase her signature moves — but the video she was capturing included an unexpected participant when an enthusiastic fan jumped in to dance alongside her.

Despite Heyer’s composure, social media users voiced their frustration with the random woman’s insistence on participating in the moment, with one commenter claiming she “ruined” it.

“Kelley’s handling this better than I would have, because I would’ve lost my cool right then,” one user remarked.

“Why is the other girl trying to make this about herself? Let her perform in peace,” another user added.

“How can people be so oblivious to social cues and awareness? Does no one notice she’s performing? Why would you touch her? Seriously, what’s wrong with some people?” a third user questioned.

The video has sparked outrage on social media as viewers react to the concert-goer’s actions, yet Heyer herself is urging people not to attack or dox the fan.

According to Heyer, the woman was simply “excited” by the concert atmosphere and did not intend any harm. She even apologized after realizing the disruption she caused.

“She was really apologetic,” Heyer shared in a TikTok video. “I told her it was all good. I understood… she just got carried away in the moment. We ended up working it out in the remix. It’s okay. Just don’t dox her.”

“I don’t want her experience at the Sweat Tour to be tainted by negative comments. You all can have your opinions; I just ask for a bit of grace,” she added.

Commenters quickly responded positively to Heyer’s call for kindness, with one noting: “She was likely so immersed in the moment that she didn’t realize what was going on until it was too late — you both handled it beautifully.”

“People should relax; it didn’t detract from your moment at all, and she was just excited and wanting to join in, which is somewhat the essence of the dance and the Sweat Tour,” a second commenter added.

The Apple Dance is just one example of the many viral dances that have swept through TikTok over the years, joining hits like the Renegade, the Savage dance, and, of course, the WAP dance.
