Kevin Feige Announces New Mutant Era for MCU Ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine

“The release of Deadpool & Wolverine has paved the way for further X-Men stories in the MCU, and Kevin Feige has recently announced that preparations are already underway.”

At a press conference for the highly anticipated Marvel film, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, announced that the Mutants would play a significant role in the future of the MCU. He also hinted that fans may not have to wait until Phase 6 to see them in action.

According to Feige, the addition of characters from the X-Men universe, specifically the Mutants, is a significant development since they were previously unavailable to us. This marks the start of a new era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with every film after Deadpool and Wolverine incorporating Mutants into their stories.

It appears that the expansive X-Men universe will quickly make its way into the MCU. The rights to X-Men were acquired by Disney in 2019 as part of their deal with 21st Century Fox, so this has been a highly anticipated event for quite some time.

The revelation has the potential to greatly impact the future, as it opens the door for X-Men characters to potentially make appearances in upcoming films like Fantastic Four, Blade, and Spider-Man 4.

Feige mentioned that there is a chance of creating additional R-rated films in the future.

Despite his insistence that the MCU would not transition into an R-rated franchise, the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, both in terms of critical reception and box office earnings, could potentially lead to Marvel shifting towards a more mature audience.

He stated that each movie within the [Marvel] franchise holds significance and that there is nothing more satisfying than a well-made film for a Cinematic Universe.

“While many have discussed the impact of the R-rating on future movies, I do not believe that every movie will follow suit. However, I do hope that all future films will adopt the same tone and approach as Deadpool, Wolverine, and our team has shown.”

With the addition of more R-rated movies and the X-Men, it seems like the upcoming MCU could be a significant departure from tradition if Deadpool & Wolverine proves to be as successful as anticipated.

The film Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in theaters on July 26.
