Kevin Feige Confirms Major Fan Theory About Fantastic Four

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has officially acknowledged a popular speculation regarding the upcoming Fantastic Four film.

It would be an understatement to say that fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of Marvel’s first family, considering the last Fantastic Four live-action movie was released nearly a decade ago.

Despite limited information being known about the upcoming film, its star-studded cast has sparked speculation among fans about the potential setting and timeline, thanks to hints provided by the studio.

It has been confirmed by Feige that some of the prominent theories regarding the film’s setting are accurate, as The Fantastic Four will be set in the 1960s rather than the present day MCU.

After Marvel released a piece of artwork depicting the team in a retro style, many fans began to speculate that the movie would be set in the 1960s.

Despite being published in 1961, the original Fantastic Four comic sparked speculation that the upcoming film would bring the team back to their origins.

The fans who believed in the ’60s time theory were vindicated when Feige confirmed it during his appearance on the first episode of the new Official Marvel podcast.

The president not only revealed the timeline for the story, but also provided hints about the movie’s setting.

“Feige confirmed that the film is set in a specific time period. Another promotional image showcased Johnny Storm using his powers to create a four symbol while flying, with a cityscape visible in the corner.”

“Many individuals with keen observation skills pointed out that the cityscape depicted was not an exact representation of either the modern-day New York we know, or the New York of the 1960s in our reality. These are astute and perceptive observations.”

The drawing that Feige is talking about depicts Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, flying over a futuristic skyline of New York City.

It is possible that Feige is implying the possibility of The Fantastic Four existing in an alternate dimension, distinct from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alternatively, it may be another development in the MCU’s ever-expanding multiverse.

Regardless, viewers can learn more about the movie’s setting in terms of time and place when The Fantastic Four premieres on July 25, 2025.
