Unfortunately, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has disappointed numerous fans by confirming that we won’t be seeing any familiar faces in the upcoming Avengers movies.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe prepares for its Mutant Era with the inclusion of Deadpool and Wolverine, many fans are questioning the potential impact this will have on the upcoming Avengers 5 film.
The heroes who will be invited to join the prestigious world-saving squad will surely be affected by the events depicted in the upcoming Marvel movie.
Despite the introduction of numerous new characters such as Eternals and Ms. Marvel, it is unlikely that there will be a major reunion of all the characters in the MCU. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has dismissed the possibility of such a gathering, dashing the hopes of fans.
“I typically avoid making definitive statements like that, correct?”Feige explained to i09. “I never use absolutes when discussing the possibility of seeing someone again. However, in these Avengers films, we will be focusing on a specific storyline and won’t have the capacity to include every single character.”
The start of Phase 4 has brought about the introduction of numerous new characters, from the film Black Widow to the series Hawkeye.
Although characters like Kate Bishop and Ms. Marvel have been used to hint at upcoming projects, only a select few from this phase have been officially announced to make a return to the big screen within the next two years.
Yelena Belova, a fan-favorite character from Phase 4, is set to lead the upcoming Thunderbolts film. Joining her will be a handful of carefully chosen characters from both the film and the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
In 2025’s Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson will be stepping into the spotlight as he assumes the role of the new Captain America.
Despite this, lesser known characters such as Moon Knight and She-Hulk may not receive as much attention as the franchise prepares for Avengers: Secret Wars.
Despite Feige’s definitive statement about the Avengers movies, it does not necessarily mean that Phase 4 heroes who are sidelined will not make appearances in some form. In fact, he clarified in the interview that decisions will have to be made, but this does not rule out the possibility of seeing these characters again in the future.
