Kick Co-Founder Says Dr Disrespect’s Streaming Contract Would Be a “Waste of Money”

Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau recently engaged in a discussion with Edward Kraven, also known as Eddie, who is a co-founder of Kick, regarding the possibility of signing Dr Disrespect to their platform. According to Slasher, this potential partnership seems financially unwise at this moment.

Since its launch, Kick has experienced a wave of controversies, much of which stems from the unpredictable antics of various streamers during live broadcasts.

During their conversation, Slasher inquired if Kick was considering a streaming contract with Dr Disrespect. The creator, although controversial, commands a significant audience on YouTube. However, Eddie clarified that he has no intention of securing a deal with him.

“Entering into a contract with Dr Disrespect would not make any financial sense right now,” remarked the co-founder.

“It could potentially harm Kick and would ultimately be throwing money away at this stage. From a purely business standpoint, it simply isn’t a sound investment,” he added, steering clear of the surrounding drama.

While it is true that Kick could experience a short-term surge in viewership — especially since Dr Disrespect currently lacks monetization on YouTube and may wish to move to a platform where he can profit more — Eddie remains skeptical about its long-term prospects.

Recently, Kick has enforced stricter bans, an example being the removal of Jack Doherty after an incident where he crashed his car while distracted by his phone during a live stream.

Moreover, the platform took decisive action against a streamer who harassed other creators at Twitch Con, denouncing such behavior and subsequently banning him from the service.
