Kick has added new categories, ‘IRL’ and ‘Chat Roulette’, in an effort to enhance moderation on the platform. This decision was made after several streamers violated the platform’s guidelines.
On June 22, Kick announced the introduction of two new streaming categories on their platform: IRL and Chat Roulette.
The company announced on Twitter/X that IRL was developed in response to the increasing popularity of this type of content on Kick, and subsequently revised its guidelines to incorporate this new category.
The statement advises streamers to be aware that their behavior while IRL streaming may lead others to take matters into their own hands if they become overly annoyed. Therefore, it is important to always be respectful and civil.

To ensure proper conduct during IRL streaming, Kick outlined several specific guidelines. These included showing respect for the privacy of others, adhering to local laws, and avoiding any disturbances to those around you.
Kick moderators will continue to be present in every stream within the new Chat Roulette category in order to monitor for “doxxing,”hate-speech, and to protect minors.
It is strictly prohibited to stream minors or anyone who could reasonably be perceived as a minor on these chat roulette style platforms. If you come across someone who appears to be a minor while using these platforms, you must immediately skip to the next engagement.
During a stream, CEO Eddie Craven announced these categories and also shared that they will make it significantly simpler for the moderation team to monitor broadcasts with a higher risk.
According to him, there will be an active moderator present in the Chat Roulette and IRL category at all times to ensure that the stream can be shut down promptly if necessary. This measure aims to prevent any problematic situations that may arise and are often left unattended.

Eddie emphasized that their team’s stance is to avoid becoming a second version of Twitch. He further explained that they are not in favor of simply banning streamers as it is the simplest solution.
Twitch has taken measures to prohibit “all randomized video chat platforms,”such as Chat Roulette and the now defunct Omegle, as they do not align with the community guidelines and may contain explicit content or violence.
This recent policy was implemented following the banning of Kick streamers N3on and Jack Doherty from the platform. The ban was a result of a physical altercation that occurred between them and their teams while they were live streaming at a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in Florida.
