KICK is experiencing a significant surge in user registrations as controversy swirls around Twitch, as the platform strives to surpass the Amazon-owned giant.
Historically, many rivals have attempted to dethrone Twitch, including Facebook Gaming, Mixer, and DLive, all of which invested heavily in well-known streamers in an effort to capture a slice of Twitch’s audience.
KICK has emerged as the newest challenger, and despite some initial setbacks, it has managed to make a noticeable impact on Twitch’s stronghold. One of KICK’s key attractions has been its openness to gambling, while Twitch itself has faced issues that have prompted streamers to consider making the switch to the Stake-backed service.
In the past month, shifts in Twitch’s policies that upset VTubers and restricted sign-ups from certain regions have contributed to a spike in registrations for KICK.
“This has been an INCREDIBLE month for Kick as a platform. There’s been a boost of over 40% in signups following the recent Twitch fallout, not to mention streamer @WestCOL hitting a staggering peak of 1,417,574 viewers during his broadcast,” tweeted KICK streamer Big E.
Kick is having an INSANE month as a platform. This includes a 40%+ boost in signups after the recent Twitch drama, and streamer @WestCOL having an INSANE stream of 1,417,574 peak viewers. The streamer noted that even with this impressive growth, KICK still has a “long road ahead.” He remarked, “I remember many skeptics insisting ‘it won’t last six months,’ yet here we are nearly two years later, still on the rise. There’s much more to achieve, but the momentum continues.”
KICK is poised for further significant developments as well, including the introduction of “KICK Currency,” which will enable viewers to earn rewards for watching their preferred streamers.
They are also rolling out more inclusive rules for VTubers, following Twitch’s recent crackdown, which should attract more content creators within that niche to the platform.
Moreover, KICK isn’t alone in hoping for Twitch’s decline. Rumble’s CEO, Chris Pavlovski, speculates that Amazon may either divest or close down the platform within the next few years.
