Kick has begun to roll out new features aimed at VTubers on its streaming platform, as it seeks to attract streamers amid the controversy surrounding recent Twitch rule changes.
Following changes to Twitch’s attire policy on October 7, which mandated that virtual avatars be completely covered, the VTuber community expressed their outrage. In response, Kick appears to be seizing the opportunity to introduce supportive updates for streamers.
On October 11, the platform shared via its Twitter/X account that it had launched a new 3D Kick hat asset for use by streamers on their virtual models. “VTUBERS. Yes, we appreciate VTUBERS… just putting that out there,” the post stated, hinting at more exciting features to come.

Additionally, on October 9, Aurora Phoenyx announced that she is the first signed VTuber on Kick, expressing gratitude towards the platform after an interview with CEO Eddie Craven.
“To all my fellow Kick VTubers facing harassment from Twitch and Twitter users, stay strong,” she shared on her Twitter/X account. “You have stood up for yourselves and your communities! Kick embraces VTubers and has our backs.”
KICK is about providing a relevant option/market that does more for Creators so they may do more for their communities. We value our VTuber community. Here is @Aurora_Phoenyx talking with KICK CEO @StakeEddie about the state of VTubing. https://t.co/bgnSE8Mzf1 pic.twitter.com/iTO7sX3nu5

Santamaria, a Kick employee who participated in the discussion, added: “Kick aims to offer a relevant platform that provides more for Creators, allowing them to give more back to their communities. We truly value our VTuber community.”
Further controversy for Twitch arose on October 10 when creator Chromuchromu was banned for an alleged policy violation on their birthday, leaving them perplexed by the temporary suspension.
Despite some dissatisfaction among VTubers on Twitch due to the modified rules, the community continues to thrive on that platform without any indications of a downturn. Notably, on September 26, Ironmouse broke the record for Twitch subscribers, surpassing Kai Cenat with over 311,000 subscribers during a subathon event.
