KiiiKiii Shines on SBS PowerFM’s “Cultwo Show”
The rookie girl group KiiiKiii, affectionately recognized as IVE’s little sister under the Starship Entertainment label, surprised fans with a special guest appearance on the March 26 episode of SBS PowerFM’s Cultwo Show. Highlighting member Jiyu’s remarkable academic achievements captivated the audience and sparked lively discussions during the broadcast.

Jiyu’s Unique Accent and Educational Background
During the show, when a listener pointed out her regional accent, Jiyu bashfully confessed, “I’m from Busan.” In response to inquiries about her relocation to Seoul, she shared, “I was cast in middle school and started training while traveling back and forth. I officially moved to Seoul during high school.” Although she didn’t initially try to change her accent, she humorously noted, “Since all my members speak in the Seoul dialect, I naturally picked it up, ” eliciting laughter with her Busan-style pronunciation.

From Academic Aspirations to Idol Dreams
Interestingly, Jiyu revealed that her aspiration to become a singer wasn’t a childhood dream.“I didn’t have a specific job in mind; I just wanted to live earnestly, ” she explained. The DJs were intrigued to learn that she graduated from Busan Foreign Language High School, a prestigious institution in South Korea.
After the DJs expressed their surprise, commenting on her academic excellence, Jiyu humbly remarked, “I always aimed to study diligently, which is why I pursued that type of high school. My focus was still on my studies at that time.”
When the DJs inquired if she was content to sacrifice her education for a music career, she replied thoughtfully, “This is a job that can only be enjoyed at this age. I realized I could continue studying later, so I thought, ‘You only live once; let’s try everything I want to do.’”
Regarding her academic performance, Jiyu shared, “I think I ranked 7th in middle school? I’m not entirely sure, but I believe it was a single-digit rank.” The DJs playfully declared, “We’ll go with 7th nationwide!”

Leesol’s Aspirations and Diverse Experiences
Another standout member, Leesol from Mokdong, also captured attention when it was mentioned that her childhood dream was to become a doctor. DJ Lee Jae-yul remarked, “What an elite group!” In response, Leesol explained, “My parents always encouraged me to gain a variety of experiences, stating, ‘Try whatever you want, be it arts, sports, or academics.’”
Leesol continued, “Rather than selecting what I liked best, I desired a job that could offer comfort to others. Becoming an idol never crossed my mind as a child; my goal was to become a doctor and assist people in need. However, during high school, I began contemplating where I sourced my motivation during tough times, and that’s when I realized my inspiration came from artists, prompting me to aspire to become one.”
KiiiKiii’s Debut and Future Prospects
On March 24, KiiiKiii officially launched their career with their debut mini-album titled “UNCUT GEM, ” which features six tracks, including the pre-release single “I DO ME, ” released earlier on February 24. As Starship’s first girl group to debut in four years since IVE, KiiiKiii is generating buzz not only for their innovative sound and impressive visuals but also for their intelligence, confidence, and authenticity.
