Kim & Chang Lawyer Critiques HYBE for Underestimating NewJeans as a ‘Trendy Product’

On September 15th, the YouTube channel “Jin-gyeok’s Lawyer” discussed significant developments, including NewJeans’ emergency live broadcast, Min Hee-jin’s call for an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, and ongoing legal matters regarding the appointment of directors. During the session, the lawyer highlighted a comment from a previous video.

A user identified as Mr. A remarked, “It seems like HYBE is at greater risk by keeping an ungrateful person around. In a multi-label company, NewJeans is merely a popular product, so they should eliminate the traitor and eradicate any supporting allies.”

The lawyer responded by sharing his thoughts: “But I have doubts about whether HYBE can evolve into a prominent company while viewing artists merely as popular products.”

He continued, “What I view as common sense contrasts with what many others think. Numerous individuals believe it is entirely natural to consider HYBE artists as simple popular products, and anyone supporting a ‘traitor’ should be completely eliminated.”

Throughout the video, the lawyer speculated that NewJeans’ emergency live broadcast could significantly influence legal proceedings. He stated, “NewJeans stands to lose more by openly criticizing HYBE; however, their actions reflect their sincerity, which may have legal significance.”

Earlier, on September 11th, members of NewJeans conducted a live broadcast on YouTube, during which they disclosed their feelings of being marginalized by HYBE. They issued an ultimatum, demanding the reinstatement of former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin by the 25th.

With the backing of NewJeans’ public support, Min Hee-jin filed a petition with the Seoul Central District Court on September 13th, requesting an injunction to convene an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting and to reinstate her as an internal director of ADOR.
