Disney Content Showcase APAC 2024 Highlights the Anticipated Series “Unmasked”
On November 21st, 2024, local time, the vibrant Disney Content Showcase APAC unfolded at the iconic Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This event was a platform for unveiling exciting new content from Disney, including the much-anticipated drama series “Unmasked.”
Insights into “Unmasked”
Starring acclaimed actors Kim Hye-soo and Jung Sung-il, along with director Yoo Seon-dong, the event featured a lively press Q&A session where they shared insights into the show’s concept. “Unmasked”follows a dedicated investigative reporting team as they unravel cases that have stumped both prosecutors and police, diving deep into the investigative world.
Thematic Depth and Lighthearted Elements
Explaining the delicate balance of themes in “Unmasked”, Kim Hye-soo, who plays the resolute team leader Oh So-ryong, stated, “We incorporated realistic episodes, including the impact of fake news, while infusing humor to alleviate the serious subject matter. Each episode offers a distinct mood, and while we aim for the messages to be enjoyable, the core narrative remains potent and impactful.”
Challenges Faced During Filming
During the filming process, Kim Hye-soo encountered a significant challenge: she suffered a thigh injury while performing a physically demanding scene. Reflecting on the incident, she recounted, “On an extremely cold winter day, I ruptured my right thigh muscle while filming. Initially, I thought we could shoot around the injury, but that was not feasible. We reset and filmed again, resulting in a scene that ultimately turned out quite dynamic.”
Co-Stars and Chemistry
Kim Hye-soo praised her co-star Jung Sung-il, noting his genuine and cheerful demeanor. She remarked, “Sung-il’s performance in his previous work, ‘The Glory’, showcased his pure acting talent. In ‘Unmasked’, viewers will discover deeper layers to his character, reflecting his personality while introducing something entirely new. His intense screen presence captivated the cast and crew alike.”
Jung Sung-il, portraying parachute PD Han Do, commented on the intriguing contrast between Kim Hye-soo’s character—labeled a “crazy freak” —and her real-life personality. He noted, “While her character’s assertiveness mirrors her true self, she remains an incredibly straightforward and genuine person.”
