Recent reports from Munhwa Ilbo reveal that on November 13, the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency took significant steps against an individual known as BJ A, issuing an arrest warrant for blackmail in accordance with the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. Over a period spanning from September 2020 to last month, A is alleged to have threatened Kim Junsu, extorting a staggering total of 840 million won (approximately $630,000 USD) through more than 101 instances of coercion.

The Nature of the Threats

The troubling connection between Kim and A began in 2019, when A reportedly recorded private conversations and voice messages of Kim Junsu. These recordings were used to threaten Kim with public exposure unless significant payments were made. Notably, it has come to light that A’s motive for such extortion was to fund drug purchases, as they currently stand trial for drug-related offenses.
