During a candid conversation on singer Jung Jae Hyung’s YouTube series, K-pop artist Kim Junsu discussed the factors that led to his departure from TVXQ (DBSK), providing insight into his path towards finding personal happiness.
Kim Junsu shared his reflection on his decision to depart from SM Entertainment, the agency where he first started his career. He recounted his departure from the agency while reminiscing on his beginnings.
“When I left the company, I left to find happiness. I didn’t even think I would be able to keep pursuing a singing career.”
In regards to his career after TVXQ, Kim Junsu emphasized his involvement in musicals, specifically highlighting his performance in “Mozart.”
“It was my first project after I stood on my own. There was a curtain call once all the scenes were over; I recall crying then. Those were tears of joy.”
One of the biggest controversies in the industry involves the ‘Emperors of K-pop’.
Kim Junsu reminisced about his time with TVXQ and shared the difficulties he encountered.
“Back then, I was young, and I was living a life where I was hopping from one country to another with only two to three hours of sleep every day.
It was so hectic that I often needed to find out whether I was in Korea, Japan, China, or Taiwan.”
He regretted the impact this lifestyle had on him during his youth.
“When I look at 25-year-olds now, they still look like adorable kids. It makes me look back on my past and wonder, ‘Have I really engaged in all those things when I was at that age?’”
During his time with TVXQ, Kim Jun Su acknowledged that he had doubts about his future happiness.
“Back when I was that age, I questioned myself if I would be a happy man after the contract ended. That’s when I realized, ‘This is not right.’”
Despite the uncertainties, he stood by his choice to prioritize personal fulfillment.
“I couldn’t keep going like that anymore. Even if it meant I wouldn’t have the opportunity to sing, which I enjoy so much, I had to quit. I had to make up my mind as soon as possible.”
Through his candid revelations, Kim Junsu provides his fans with a more profound comprehension of the personal challenges and development he faced on his journey from TVXQ to achieving recognition as a renowned artist.
