Kim Min-ju Surprises Fans as Guest Weathercaster on JTBC
On November 15, actress Kim Min-ju, who gained popularity as a member of the girl group IZ*ONE, delighted audiences by stepping in as a weathercaster on JTBC’s Newsroom. This surprise appearance featured her presenting the weekend weather while also creatively introducing herself through sign language.
During her appearance, Kim Min-ju shared that she is portraying the character “Autumn”in the film Cheongseol (청설), which revolves around the lives of youth who communicate using sign language. Dressed elegantly in a white dress, she demonstrated impressive presentation skills, combining clear speech with coordinated hand gestures.
As she concluded her segment, Kim Min-ju delivered a heartfelt message, wishing viewers a pleasant weekend, and underscored her film’s significance, which has garnered significant attention since its release on November 6. Cheongseol has already attracted over 380,000 viewers.
Kim Min-ju’s Film Debut Insights
Prior to her news segment, the former IZ*ONE member expressed her excitement and nervousness about her commercial film debut during the press screening of Hear Me: Our Summer, held on October 28 at Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The event saw the presence of director Jo Sun-ho and fellow cast members, including Hong Kyung and Noh Yoon-seo.
“I’m feeling extremely nervous as I navigate this new experience,” Kim Min-ju remarked. “Being a part of this project is a true honor. Although I had concerns due to my limited acting background, I was fortunate to play Ga-eul, a character who shares many of my traits. The preparation was a delightful journey.”
In Hear Me: Our Summer, Kim Min-ju takes on the role of Ga-eul, a deaf swimmer striving to achieve her dreams. She plays a supportive younger sister to the central characters, embodying the struggles and aspirations of her role.

“Looking back on the filming process fills me with gratitude,” she reflected. “It’s incredible to think that audiences will soon see our story in theaters, and I truly hope it resonates with many.”
Hear Me: Our Summer is a Korean adaptation of a 2010 Taiwanese romance film, marking the second feature of director Jo Sun-ho, who debuted with A Day in 2017. This heartwarming tale follows Yong-jun (Hong Kyung), determined in his quest for love, and Yeo-reum (Noh Yoon-seo), who gradually discovers her genuine feelings, alongside her sister Ga-eul (Kim Min-ju), capturing their enchanting and exhilarating moments together.
