Kim Sae-ron, Starting Her Comeback After DUI Incident? “Release Photos Taken with Lee Jae-wook and Woo Do-hwan”
The report cites sources within the film sector, indicating that the project is a low-budget musical directed by Shin Jae-ho.
Shin Jae-ho, who initially entered the film scene as the creator of “Ditto”featuring Yoo Ji-tae and Kim Ha-neul, made his directorial debut back in 2004 with “100 Days with Mr. Arrogant,”which starred Ha Ji-won. Since then, he has directed various films, including “Days of Wrath,””Duel: Final Round,””Untouchable Lawman,”and “In Dreams.”
An insider from the film team confirmed, “It’s accurate that Kim Sae-ron is part of the cast, yet further details cannot be released at this moment,” showing a careful approach to the disclosure.
Kim Sae-ron first captured attention as a young actress with notable roles in films such as “A Brand New Life” and “The Man from Nowhere,” earning her the title of “genius child actress.” She has actively participated in various dramas, films, and variety programs. However, her career faced a setback following a public scandal related to a DUI incident in 2022.
In May, she attempted to return to acting through the play “Dongchimi” after a two-year break but withdrew following a wave of negative public sentiment. There were even allegations that she worked at a café in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.
In March, she stirred public interest by sharing an intimate selfie with actor Kim Soo-hyun on her Instagram account. The image showcased the two leaning closely together, which intensified the scrutiny as Kim Soo-hyun was in the spotlight for his role in tvN’s popular drama “Queen of Tears.” Despite promptly deleting the post, Kim Sae-ron chose to remain tight-lipped regarding the reason behind sharing it. Through a media outlet, she expressed, “I have contemplated it deeply, but I believe that staying silent will be more beneficial.”
In 2022, Kim encountered legal troubles following a drunk driving incident in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where she collided with several public structures, including transformers, guardrails, and trees. This incident caused temporary power outages for local shops and streetlights, affecting the residents nearby.
Moreover, Kim faced added backlash for her refusal to take a breathalyzer test, instead opting for a blood test, which revealed her blood alcohol level was approximately 0.2%—high enough for her license to be revoked. She received a fine of 20 million KRW after facing judicial proceedings.
