Recent Developments in the Kim Sae-ron Case: Family Responds to Agency Statements

On March 16, the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute unveiled the latest comments from the family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron, bringing new insights into the ongoing situation. This announcement followed Garo Sero’s earlier release of text messages exchanged between Gold Medalist, Kim Sae-ron’s former agency, and her father. These messages depicted the agency’s numerous attempts to engage with Kim Sae-ron’s father, indicating a desire to address the matter directly. One such message explicitly stated, “Please give us the opportunity to visit you in person and explain everything that has happened.”

However, the bereaved family has since expressed their doubts and dissatisfaction regarding Gold Medalist’s formal communication. In a subsequent statement relayed through Garo Sero, they conveyed that the agency’s approach seemed more focused on legal outcomes rather than genuinely addressing the concerns at hand.

“Upon reviewing Gold Medalist’s statement thoroughly, we felt it was constructed with the intent of a legal team, one that operates in political environments, concerned more with admissibility of evidence rather than with conveying the truth. Bringing up the issue of breach of trust out of the blue does not serve as an appropriate justification for their actions, ” the family clarified.

Additionally, they detailed that Gold Medalist failed to inform Kim Sae-ron prior to her receiving a legal notice, which was ultimately a procedural matter concerning the alleged breach of trust. Upon receipt of this document, Kim Sae-ron reportedly endeavored to contact her former agency representatives multiple times, yet she encountered an absence of response.

“Gold Medalist never warned Sae-ron that the notice she received was simply a procedural formality regarding an alleged breach of trust. After getting the official notice, she reached out to every representative but was met with silence. She sought clarification on whether this issue was a decision made by Kim Soo-hyun or the agency, ” they added.

In the meantime, Kim Sae-ron’s family has proactively initiated legal measures against what they regard as defamatory narratives gaining traction in the media. On March 17, attorney Bu Ji-seok from Buyu Law Firm, who has recently been retained by the family, will hold a press briefing at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency at 2 PM (local time).In comments to SPOTV News, Attorney Bu emphasized the significance of this occasion, stating, “This is the first instance that the bereaved family has appointed a legal representative. We will outline our rationale behind this decision, including the reasons for filing a criminal complaint against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho.”

Later that same day, the family is anticipated to officially lodge a criminal complaint against Lee Jin-ho for allegedly disseminating false information regarding Kim Sae-ron. The YouTuber, who had previously posted multiple videos about the actress, soon after her passing, placed all related content to private. The controversy over his past statements has reignited recently, prompting Lee to issue a response video where he sought to clarify his comments, asserting, “I never claimed that the photo Kim Sae-ron posted of Kim Soo-hyun was fake or altered.”

As the situation continues to develop, the forthcoming press conference is expected to bring further details to light regarding the bereaved family’s grievances and their legal strategies against those perceived to have distorted the narrative surrounding the late actress.
