The recent lifting of the first martial law in 45 years has left a noticeable impact on various sectors, including the stock market and the entertainment industry. As venues adapt to the swift changes, many events are being canceled or rescheduled amidst the ongoing uncertainty.

Despite the tumultuous backdrop, several concerts are set to continue as planned. Notably, performances by renowned artists such as Lee Seung-hwan, Jang Beom-june, and international sensation Dua Lipa are scheduled for December 4.

Lee Seung-hwan had initially canceled his intimate performance titled Like a Black-and-White Movie at the Gurumare Theater in Seoul. However, after the martial law was lifted, he reinstated the shows, which span from December 3 to 5 and December 17 to 19. The artist publicly apologized for the confusion following an operatic back-and-forth on December 3 and reassured fans of the concert’s resumption.

Similarly, Jang Beom-june will continue his concert series Silent Raining, which runs from December 4 to 19 at Hyundai Card UNDERSTAGE in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He communicated a message through social media, stating, “In these turbulent times, I won’t post updates today or tomorrow. Please stay informed through news outlets, and I’ll see you at the concert.”

British pop icon Dua Lipa is also maintaining her schedule with performances at Gocheok Sky Dome on December 4 and 5.

Changes in Promotional Activities

However, many promotional events for films and series are experiencing alterations due to the recent political climate. For instance, Seo Hyun-jin, who stars in the Netflix series The Trunk, canceled her promotional interview set for December 4, although plans for a reschedule are in place. In contrast, interviews for her co-stars Gong Yoo and Jung Yun-ha, expected on December 5 and 6, will proceed as originally scheduled.
