Kim Soo-mi’s Passing: Denial of Health Problems Just One Month Earlier

On the morning of October 25th, it was announced that the beloved Kim Soo-mi had passed away at the age of 75.

Earlier this year, in both May and July, Kim Soo-mi had been hospitalized due to health concerns, leading to a significant pause in her professional activities. In September, further whispers of her health issues began circulating.

During a home shopping program, viewers voiced their worries after noticing her visibly swollen face and shaky hands. Additionally, her speech was slurred and noticeably different, intensifying concerns regarding her wellbeing.

Addressing these worries, Kim Soo-mi’s son, Jung Myung-ho, who is also the CEO of Napalkkot F&B, stated, “My mother is not facing any serious health issues. Her appearance was a result of staying up the previous night before the broadcast and not feeling her best.” Kim Soo-mi herself clarified that her slurred speech was caused by dental implants.

In May, she was hospitalized due to severe fatigue from overwork. She acknowledged feeling overwhelmed by her hectic schedule, which included her role in the play “My Mommy” and various appearances on shows like “The President’s People” and “Boss in the Mirror.”

Korean actress Kim Soo-mi was born in 1949 and made her professional debut in 1971 through a talent competition with MBC. She became highly popular for her performances in the drama “Country Diaries” and the film “Marrying the Mafia: Returns.” Her illustrious career also included numerous appearances on variety programs, films, and musicals.

In addition to her acting prowess, Kim Soo-mi was well-known for her culinary talents and even launched a kimchi business, featuring prominently in home shopping broadcasts.

In 2019, Kim Soo-mi’s son, Jung Myung-ho, tied the knot with actress Seo Hyo-rim, and they are now proud parents to a daughter.
