Upon being asked by Jang Sung-kyu about the excitement of the drama’s production, Kim Yoon-ah responded nonchalantly, questioning his prior knowledge on the matter. This revelation has caused a stir among netizens as it suggests that she was oblivious to the drama’s production from the start.
On June 25th, Kim Yoon-ah made an appearance on the web entertainment show “Don’t Forget Your Breakfast 2″which is hosted on the YouTube channel “Studio Suze”. During the show, she gave viewers a tour of her new home located in Bundang, Seongnam, Gyeonggi.
During the show, Jang Sung-kyu inquired about the inspiration behind Jaurim’s song “Twenty Five, Twenty One”and its connection to the tvN drama of the same name. He asked, “With such a vast collection of amazing songs, I’m curious to know how ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’ came to be adapted into a drama. Was it a result of being approached or did it happen organically?”The audience eagerly awaited to hear the behind-the-scenes details of how the beloved drama was born from Kim Yoon-ah’s popular song.
Despite Jang Sung-kyu’s surprise, Kim Yoon-ah’s response remained calm as she asked, “Did you know about the drama?”She then revealed, “I found out after you asked that ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’ was being adapted into one.”
Jang Sung-kyu inquired about whether or not they had asked for her permission, to which Kim Yoon-ah responded by saying, “It would have been preferable if they had asked beforehand, but I received an email apologizing for not doing so after the production announcement.”In hindsight, she remarked, “Regardless, I am fond of actress Kim Tae-ri.”
Jang Sung-kyu inquired if she had willingly agreed, to which she responded, “It was already settled.”She elaborated that her songs are typically licensed for a fixed price in dramas, but the producers of this particular drama had offered a slightly higher amount. Jang Sung-kyu praised their generosity, and she gratefully replied with a smile, “Thank you.”
The response from netizens has been strong. A comment on the video stating “Did they not ask for permission beforehand? That seems disrespectful”has garnered over a thousand likes. Other comments express gratitude for the opportunity to discover a great song and mention the drama producers’ rude behavior and the singer’s decision to let it go. Some suggest that etiquette should be considered in the future, but are willing to move on since the producers paid more than the usual amount.
Furthermore, “Twenty Five, Twenty One”remains one of Jaurim’s most popular songs from the 2010s. Originally featured in a drama with the same title, the song experienced a resurgence in popularity in 2022. In an interview, lead singer Kim Yoon-ah revealed that the lyrics were inspired by her past relationship with an ex-boyfriend.
